Hi!

Already written on PU/PD thread but so far still no solution to our problem!

Our lo is nearly one and still sleeps in our arms (she had really bad colic til 3 months hence the accidental parenting). We have tried PU/PD twice within 2 months and on both occasions it was a disaster. Olivia ended up vomitting (something she has always done ever since she was born when crying a lot). She is sooooo spirited!!

My DH and I are desperate to sort things out and help her learn to sleep independently but can't seem to find solution. Being by her cot ends up with crying and vomitting too!
Please help!

Chufi, I split your post (I hope you don't mind)

Can you tell me what her daytime routine looks like.

At this age, pu/pd might be too stimulating & considering that she is so dependant on you to get to sleep, you might want to consider something like gradual withdrawal to start with. Here's the link to the sleep training methods for toddlers: https://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=63896.0

Let me know if you have any questions

Hi!

Thanks for answering! Olivia's routine is as follows:

6-6.30 Awake
7 milk
9.30 til 10.15/10.30 Nap1
11 Lunch
2/2.15 Nap2 until 4
4 Snack
6.30 Dinner
7 Bath
7.30 Sleep

It tends to be more or less like that though i have noticed that she is sort of shortening her nap 1 lately!! She wakes up 3/4 times in the night(not everynight though now teething so its worse), sometimes she goes back to sleep easily when i give her the dummy, others i have to pick her up!!

I have already read the GW method but i don't think i would work! So i put a bed/ inflatable bed by her crib and if she cries? Olivia doesn't calm don't if i touch her! How should i do it?

Bethany has told me to have a look at the "no-crying method" book by Elizabeth Pantley which i am waiting for anxiously!

I hope i find a solution soon...
Thanks very much
Chufi

Its ok that she is shortening her morning nap. She's heading towards 1 nap so the morning nap is going to dissapear & by 15months about 50% are on 1 nap... If there are days she is not taking a morning nap, put her down for 1 nap around 11ish. She might go from 2 to 1 naps for a few months or she might make the transition smoothly over the next few weeks.

If she cries, you need to help her find something that will soothe her. Does she have a lovey or something she is attached to? Take that to bed & make it part of your wind down routine & let her sleep with it....

I found a link to the Elizabeth Pantley's gentle removal plan - https://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=52857.0

Have a read through it in the meantime (while you are waiting for the book).
