DF Directly in Crib?
« on: August 18, 2007, 03:57:04 am »
I'd like to start DFing my 5 month old daughter again. When I tried previously, lifting her out of her AMBY hammock, I would inevitably wake her and she would be irate. So I stopped.

Does anyone DF directly in the crib -- just slip the bottle in and go? Would there be anything wrong with doing it that way?

Thanks!

Lu

The downside would be that I have read that if the lo's head is not elevated, the milk can pool in their eustachian (sp?) tubes and cause ear infections.

I did it with dd at about 4 or 5 months but I had her mattress elevated.

Funny you posted this because that was exactly the way I used to feed Isabella at night. But at the end of the feed, I used to sit her upright & burp her (which she always did). We went on like this until she was 9 months (which was when the feed stopped).

In the AMBY hammock, her head is above her belly. I mean, it's just like a regular hammock, so I suppose her head is above her belly.

I suppose I can try it!  Yesterday she beat me to the punch and woke up just as I was going in to feed her.  The brilliant thing is that she stayed asleep until 5:40 - MIRACLE! We'll see how we do tonight.

Just wanted to share that I df'd my first lo directly in the crib.  I didn't burp her and she never got an ear infection.

Good to know.

I have ended up taking her out of her AMBY. A few times she has beat me to the DF punch, so I take her out anyway.  It doesn't seem to matter b/c she has no problem putting herself back to sleep like that.

So far so good....

It is not recommended to feed your lo while laying down, as, as previous poster said, it can end up causing ear infections, and also because your lo's head is not elevated, it can cause chocking.
