Neocate and Pepti Junior
« on: August 25, 2007, 10:09:23 am »
Hi all,

DD has MSPI, and we have had her on Neocate, a trial on pepti junior 2 months ago didn't go amazingly (tummy ache came back a bit, as did reflux symptoms).  I want to try it again, but by mixing the 2 to slowly wean, I would love her to be on dairy by 1 year old. Anyone had any experience with this? Can I mix the 2

TIA xxx

You can try mixing the two.  If it was me I probably would wait till she was a year old.  A lot of kids out grow it by then.  We slowly switched Abby from Neocate to goat's milk.  We started with just 1 ounce in one of her bottles.  We kept it like this for 2wks.  Then we added another ounce for a week.   Then we added a ounce of goat's milk to another one of her bottles.  And just kept increasing it each week.  Her GI said that you have to do slowing b/c her system hasn't had any milk proteins in it since she has been on the Neocate.

I am not even considering trying cow's milk until she is 2.

HTH,

Thanks for the reassurance, but one sign of the runs and its back onto neocate (script is waiting at the docs).  What else should i watch out for.... she was always a screamer when a baby as bad belly, and colicky, would this still be the case now?

Hi Jenny, back on the Neocate, as pepti started the mucus poos and blood. Am so glad I could pick up the script really quick! Guess she has quite a bad intolerance then would you think?

To be honest I would wait at least another 6 months before you trialled it again. Just my opinion though. I know with allergies the longer you exclude the allergy the better chance you have of outgrowing it. I am not sure if it workd the same way with intollerances though. Will have to do some research.

Thanks Jimbob, I agree with you, am certainly not going to trial it again until she is a year old
