Milk reaction or just a runny nose?

When I first introduced cow milk at 12 mos, ds got eczema on his face within 24 hrs and it was actually just to the point of weaping.  Ugh.  Here we are at 18 mos and I just introduced it  again this morning and he's only had one cup so far.  This afternoon was met with a  runny nose and dh has had a head cold for the last few days too.  He doesn't have a rash or any other symptoms of a reaction. 

So, I am wondering if I should just assume the runny nose is from a head cold or if I should stop the milk for now until the runny nose subsides.  Any thoughts are appreciated.

Lena,  I personally still get runny noses when I drink cow's milk.  I am told that in some individuals it produces excess mucous and then the runny nose.  I generally have given up milk, but sometimes can't resist.  As I am an adult and not a child though, I haven't a clue as to what to do for a little one.  Except that if I were in the same situation, I probably would refrain from the milk.  I know I can make the choice to drink milk and deal with the runny nose.  not sure what purpose it would serve your ds. 

My .02 not based on anything the medical community might have to say.

Lena, I also would wait for the runny nose to subside and then introduce it again to see if it returns.  That should help you figure out if it's excess mucus from the milk or just a head cold.

Lena, I agree with Dee & Alissa.  Why are you changing from goats milk?  Is it just because of the cost?

Thanks for the responses everyone.  Yes, Shanaz, it is due to cost and also so that I have more ammunition for my case about the allergist when I try to get a referral back here in Kentucky.  The referral I had previously was from our ped in Michigan and now I have to start over again and it is never easy when dealing with medical stuff here.  I think they are overloaded and really want to find a need before doing follow-up. 

I have since decided to hold off on the milk itself because he's definitely got a cold.  We've had 2 nws: 1 at 10:45pm and 1 at 3:30am.

I think you are right in stopping until his cold has gone. That way you will be able to see signs of a reaction easier plus you don't want him to suffer any reactions on top of a cold.
