Dream Feed
« on: September 02, 2007, 00:27:03 am »
My daugther is 8 weeks old, almost nine weeks.  She eats at 7, 10, 1, 4, and 7.  She does not cluster feed and I have not given her a dream feed in 1-2 weeks.  After the 7 pm feed she typically wakes b/w 1:30-3:30 am to feed.  Then she eats again at 7 a.m.

Should I be giving her a dream feed b/w 10 - 11 pm in hopes that she does not need the 1:30-3:30 am feed?  She is only 8 weeks old and it is my understanding that you dream feed all the way until 7 months old. Am I too late to start dream feeding?  Do I need to dream feed if this seems to work for her?  Is it easier to drop the dream feed vs. the middle/late night feed?

My ds didn't take a dreamfeed until the day before he turned 3 months old.  Coincidentally, that was the first night he slept through the night as well.  He would never cluster feed either b/c he had reflux.
God will give you exactly what you ask Him for, even if it's not in the package you expected it to be in.

Hi and welcome to the boards!

Having one night feed at 8 weeks is awesome!

It's totally up to you... you may find that the df does nothing (if you do try, give it at least a week before you decide it doesn't work).  You certainly do not need to df, and in your case, I don't know that I would start.

This may help (from the FAQs):

I started the df at around that age, and it worked to eliminate the 2am feeding.  Ellie slept from the df (11pm) to 7 am at 9wks.  Whenever we skip the df, though, she wakes at 2 and 5 am.  So the df was worth it for us!
