Milk intolerance/allergy and carmel color?
« on: September 02, 2007, 18:59:01 pm »
Hello all,
Wondering if anyone knows about this.  I know that caramel coloring is listed on the list of foods to check labels for if you lo has a milk allergy.  Well, in Tofutti Cuties (U.S. frozen treats), the box says "dairy-free, milk-free, lactose-free" and yet caramel coloring is listed in the ingredients.  Any ideas about this?

Thanks!
Amy

If it has caramel colouring then I would avoid it to be on the safe side even though the product claims to be dairy free.

I'm guessing the regulators' list of dairy-free is less conclusive than the list you have, I'd avoid if you have had a reaction to caramel coloring in the past.  However not all babies are sensitive to it.
