wake time
« on: September 03, 2007, 19:00:43 pm »
Hi again,
I recently posted regarding dream feeding.  My daughter, almost 9 weeks, feeds every three hours (7, 10, 1, 4, and 7) no cluster feeding and no dream feed.  At the time of my last post she was sleeping until 1:30-3:30 and eating then when she woke and then not again until 7.

Last night she slept from 7:45ish, when we finally put her down, until 5 am.  I was too nervous to add the dream feed so I've just kept up our routine as is. She has reflux as well and I really didn't want to change things up too much.

We have established her night as beginning at 7 pm and day beginning at 7 am.  My question is, as she seems to be going longer each night, what should I do if she wakes after 5 and closer to 7?   I don't want to establish anything earlier than 7 am as morning.  So when would I feed her. Last night I fed her at 5 am and then again at 7:15 am.  What would I do if she wakes later at say 5:45 or 6:15 something like that?

Thanks again for the help. It is much appreciated!

You can try offering only one side and putting her back to bed (or offering 1/2 a feed) then the other half when she wakes for the day.

She is doing great at sleeping at 9 weeks!

That sounds like a good plan.  Thanks!  I think we'll give that a try.

One other question.  I was reading a similar post (in the EASY forum).  What is wake to sleep?

For naps:

For overnight:
I can't find the link... basically if your lo is waking out of habit (not hunger) at the same time each night (say 3am), you go in around 2 am and just gently stir him/her to disrupt the sleep cycle.  Do this for three nights and then cross your fingers  ;)  We have had a lot of success with W2S for overnights.  At 9 weeks though, I would let things be for now... she needs that feed.
