Do you think this was the cream???
« on: September 04, 2007, 07:50:04 am »
On Saturday my DD drank the cold dregs of my coffee (decaf at least lol), I don't know how much went in as a lot was dripping of her chin. She is MSPI and the coffee had cream in it as opposed to milk and that night she had a couple of NW but was also OT so I put it down to that, since Sunday she will hardly eat anything and woke again in the night moaning and pulling her knees up. She's also had a few episodes where she screams as if she is in pain and starts pulling her hair very stressed. Anyway last night she was up an hour and a half moaning, crying and flapping her arms and legs about, I had to hold her and let her fall asleep in my arms. Could this be the cream from my coffee? I can't understand what else it could be, I feel terrible  :'(

It could be the cream but don't beat yourself up about it. It might be worth having her checked over just incase its something else. I hope the problem resolves soon. Sending big hugs your way.

Hopefully the symptoms will start calming down soon. Its horrible watching them suffer. Good luck with the appointments on Thursday.

Is she doing this at other times or just during the night?  I would be inclined to pop to doctors sooner than thursday, but I have to say I know nothing of allergies so to me it sounds maybe worse than it is.

hope she gets better soon  :)

Hi Newmum, no she has had it in the day too but she is always worst at night as I think it aggravates her lying down, I was just hoping at 11 months she wouldn't be as sensitive anymore  :(

Poor little thing.  Strange it takes so long to leave her system isn't it?  I know milk allergies can be very serious my niece almost died, this was 18yrs ago mind you and I don't think they made the connection between her illness and milk for some time they just kept feeding her it even in hospital.  She just couldn't hold anything down and was loosing so much weight so quickly, then doctors decided it may be a reaction to milk stopped giving her it and presto, sickness gone.  My SIL never really tested to find out how old she was before she was less intolerant and my niece was very aware as a small child that she couldn't have milk, I think she was at least 5yrs old before SIL let her have cows milk in tea or cereal etc.

Mmm... turns out I do know a little about allergies, duh ::)

I really hope she feels better soon.

Hi New Mum, sorry I only just checked back here! That is terrible what happened to your niece, it was similar with Leorah she went to hospital 3 times as a newborn, diagnosed her with anal fissures but didn't tell me this is a common symptom of a milk protein intolerance  ::) Poor thing suffered until I went on an elimination diet. I can understand your SIL waiting to give her DD milk, I am too scared to try Leorah with it. We went to see the allergy specialist and he wanted to do a milk trial with her and we refused, we know she can't take it so are not going to put her through it, which he understood, she had blood tests instead to see if it is likely to become and allergy or to see if anything else is. We have disolvable calcium tablets now so I feel much better about her not having any dairy though we will probably try her with some cheese one day in the future when I'm feeling very brave lol!!

Hi there Skatty, we also use calcium for DD, I do not blame you about the milk trial, we tried it and NEVER again not afor a long time anyway, she was screaming pooing jelly and blood, ugh horrid, we were also in hosp about 5 times with DD before they diagnosed milk allergy they said it was colic  ::) ::)

Dont beat yourself up about it, this morn DS gave abbi his porridge with milk in it, I literally was at the telly turning it over, turned round and there she was munching away, so am expecting her to not be great later  :'(

Hi Em, sorry to hear your DD ate some porridge, the anticipation of noghtwakings and stomach pains are such a drag, I can see how it is just going to get harder now DD is on the move and grabbing anything she fancies  ::) Doesn't the colic diagnosis drive you mad? All I kept being told was "babies cry", I just knew their was something wrong with LO, she used to look at me pleading with her eyes to help her, makes me so sad to think how much she suffered before I worked out what was going on  :'( Let's hope they grow out of these intolerances.

Katt  :)

I hope so too, yep Abbi used to cry and look all pleading, heartbreaking, and I am sure that is why I am so damn soft on her now  ;)
