now how do i sleep through the night?
« on: September 14, 2007, 12:49:37 pm »
don't hate me, my DD is finally sleeping through the night. she's almost 6 months now and for the past two weeks we've had 80% success with sleeping through. it took a long time to get here. i had to really tweak her schedule and we did start solids which threw everything off for a couple of days but now she's dropped her night feeding and is sleeping like a champ.

here's the kicker, now i can't sleep through the night!!!! i was so used to getting crappy sleep that i can't sleep like a normal person anymore :( i haven't slept well in over a year because my first trimester i had insomnia, and my second and third trimester was absolute hell due to hip problems. i want to start sleeping a little better and take advantage of this while i can because i'm sure it's not going to last. she's bound to get teeth or become mobile and then BAM we'll have nightwakings.

any tips for getting my night clock back in sync? any relaxing techniques? i'm pretty darn tired by the time i turn in at night. i just can't stay asleep. i keep waking up! i don't want to take any meds just in case but maybe something herbal or homeopathic? help!

Congrats on lo now sleeping through....You are probably so used being awake that your body has reprogrammed itself to wake up. I know the feeling as I also didnt sleep very well during my pregnancy.  First of all you need to stop wondering or worrying when Lo is going to wake up, believe me you will and don't worry about what is going to happen in the future (because yes there are going to be times that you are going to have to get up at night again...It took me about a month after my lo started sleeping through to actually get my body clock back on track...

Do what you do with your lo before you go to bed.  have a good winding down routine.  What works for me a long , hot soaking bath, a cup of camomile tea and a good book to take your mind off the days activity.

Don't worry your life will return to normal :-* :-* :-*
