im going to be,,

trained to be a breastfeeding support worker,, well thats what i think its called!

not a paid job,, volinteer work,, good for cv though!
when i had dd,,never got much support from hv of mw,, so i phoned the glasgow breastfeeding inishative,, the put me in comtact with lady called kate,, she ancered and questions i had,, even came to visit.

anyway,, i wouldnt have kept bf if it wasnt for kate,,she was also the person who told me about bw

so, the are looking for volinteers,, to help out in my area,, to phone or visit other mothers who need support with bf! even visit maternity wards

i go for training on the 30, 31 of october,, the 6,7 of november!
then,, every second wednesday at local health center,, to clock in,, get assined mothers,,,

i can do 1houror 20 hours a week,, i choose,, but,, feel that i have to give a little back!

The young mothers thing is really really important. This is a group that often doesn't start breastfeeding at all.

These are some statistics (just for Scotland not the whole UK):

"For children born between 2001 and 2006 only 7.5% of younger mothers (under 20 years of age) in the most deprived areas were breastfeeding their babies at 6-8 weeks compared with 27.2% of mothers aged 40 and over.  In comparison 20.3% of younger mothers in the least deprived areas were breastfeeding their babies between 2001 and 2006 compared with 67.8% of mothers aged 40 and over."

Some areas of Scotland - like Lanarkshire - have the lowest breastfeeding rates in Europe.
