Big Bed - too easy????
« on: September 20, 2007, 10:57:46 am »
I have 19 monthold boy/girl twins and on a whim, as it was cold last night, I put them into big beds!
It went so unexpectedly well I thought I'd share my story..........................

They have both always had a spare bed in their rooms. I used them to sleep in with them at night, especially as my boy has always been a bad sleeper. Waking at least once a night until a couple of weeks ago, when we moved house. Since the new house he now sleeps all night (mostly) and doesn't get up at 5.30am anymore!! My girl has always been an angel, sleeping until we get her up at 7.30am

Anyway, we decided about 10mins before we put them to bed that it was cold and we would put them into the big beds in their rooms, as their cots have only blankets in and it was a choice between moving them into big beds and buying quilts for their cots! We went for the cheaper option!

Not a whimper from them, didn't seem to mind, we put them to bed as usual - bath, bottle, teeth, quiet time and bed with a kiss. Didn't hear a peep out of them until 7.15am this morning!

Neither of them got out of bed in the morning either they both just called for us as they did when they were in their cots and waited for us to go get them up!

I asked my boy this morning if he liked sleeping in his big bed and his reply was excitedly 'again please', so I can only assume he did notice and that he liked it!! My girl just smiled and said 'yes'.

Very odd, I was expecting some fuss about moving to a new bed - I know it's only the first night but surely it can't be that easy?!

 ;D

Yes it can be that easy! It was the same for dd too. She still won't get out of bed on her own, she'll just summons me from her boudoir when she feels ready to accept palace staff.

Well it seems it may have been too easy after all.......................
My girl is still an angel and sits and summons us when she is ready to arise, although we still mostly get her up, as we all want our breakfast!

My boy on the other hand has started to refuse to go to sleep, we put him to bed at 7.30pm and after returning him to bed as many as 60 times (every couple of minutes he gets up and comes out of his room) he falls asleep at around 9pm.

He makes no fuss, just peeks out of the door and says 'hello mummy', I take him back to bed and leave.
He gets straight up and does it again!

Been doing this for four nights running now, not getting any better and I'm not sure what to do??
I am glad though that they are not both doing it!  ;D
