Can't believe it - DS slept til 8am! But poses new problem!
« on: October 04, 2007, 12:31:28 pm »
We've struggled with very early mornings for a long time with my 21 month DS. Over the last few weeks he seems to have settled into waking usually no earlier than 7, sometimes later. This morning he was still asleep at 8am! I knew I'd never get him to nap if he slept for longer so I woke him at 8. Have put him down for nap at 1.30 and I think he's asleep. But if he sleeps for his usual 2 hours -it'll be 8.30 before he gets to bed. Should I wake him at 3pm so I can get him in to bed at 8?

Would love to know what schedule other later-rising toddlers do.

TIA

I'd wake him at 3.  Yay for the sleep in!!!!!!!!!  Mine seems to sleep in until 8-8:30 on Sundays.  Usually her nap is still at 12:30 because if she does not go right to sleep, she will "read" to her critters for a bit.  Monday she slept from 12:45ish until 4:20!!!!!!!!  Must be exhausting being a toddler!

I get ds out of bed at 8:30.  Sometimes he's already awake, sometimes not.  He goes in the crib for a nap at 1:30--falls asleep within 15 - 60 minutes.  His actual sleep time is from 2 - 3:30 most days.  I wake him at 3:30 so he can get to bed at 8:30.  If he doesn't sleep by 3:00, he goes to bed around 8.
