Could it be a dairy allergy?
« on: October 10, 2007, 14:09:23 pm »
Hi,
Was wondering......
My DD who is almost 9mths old has had an icky tummy for the past 4 days.No appetite, and some diarrhea.
About 6 weeks ago, we started her on formula for most of her feeds as my BM supply has diminished. As for Dr."s recommendation, 3 weeks ago we started her on yogurt, cottage cheese and cream cheese.

Could she possibly have a dairy intolerance or allergy? Or is it just a bit of a bug, or teething.
If she did, would this have shown up initially?
She has no rash and no vommitting.

Thanks, any input is greatly appreciated :)

Hi there,

I posted on the Health thread . :)

I forgot to add there, that Henry also has a POOR appetite when he teeths, sometimes drinking only half his normal amount of formula, and not interested AT ALL in solids.

Fingers crossed it is teething and not a dairy allergy. If it does not clear soon though it might be worth eliminating dairy to see if it clears it up.

The diarrhea seemed to have cleared up, still on milk based formula, but I have eased up on the yogurt and cottage cheese. She ate mozzarella cheese yesterday and seemed fine.
I guess if it is a dairy intollerance, the formula would still be bothering her... I think.

In my experience the milk is worse than cheese or yogurt. :) Any teeth yet?

I hope the teeth come soon. It can be such a miserable time.

She has her two bottom teeth in the front that she got when she was 6 months old. She'll be 9 months old next week, I do believe that the top front ones are on their way. I hope they pop out soon, it's been a bit rough! :-\
