No Nap Today: A Brief Vent
« on: October 10, 2007, 22:10:29 pm »
My 21 month old DS has been in his crib for just over 90 minutes and is still awake. >:(  His noises are turning from babble to annoyance, so I'm going to have to go and fetch him soon and accept that he won't nap today.   :P  Even if he fell asleep this instant, I couldn't let him sleep long without ruining bed time.   >:( >:(

And the worst part is that it's my own darn fault.  I slept in this morning and didn't go wake him, so he got 12 hours of night sleep rather than 11.  He's always been like this . . . too much night sleeps and naps are a lost cause.

Horrible selfish mommy that I am, am breathing a wee sigh of relief at the thought that I'm going to be gone for the evening and so he'll be in DH's charge (first time in ages . . . poor DH to have to deal with nappless boy  :'().

So . . . setting my alarm for tomorrow morning.   8)

Thank you for letting me vent.   :-*

Big {{{{HUGS}}}} Bethany. I hate it when they don't nap either... but it does mean an earlier bedtime... which is a nice!

Hugs, Bethany!  You know from my trials and tribulations during naptime with B that we have been there on no-nap days, too!  They are, thank goodness, fewer and farther between since we tweaked nap start time but when I miss his window, we pay!  Don't sweat it, you need the extra rest now and then....   AND I agree, at least on a no-nap day, I get some extra evening time because of early bedtime!

You'll probably see this else where as I'm ranting about it liberally, LOL, but here's what happened last night:

Last night, for the first night in ages, I went out (to a church meeting) and DH was home with DS.  Came home to find that DH let him totally spoil his dinner by eating tons of generic golden grahams.  Come 3:30, DS woke up, and wouldn't settle again.  I spent nearly an hour in his room trying to settle him.  Then I was starting to get queasy (in my 1st trimester), so I woke DH.  He spent an hour with DS, still couldn't get him to properly settle and it was now 5:30 and DH had to get ready for work, so he came and got me again.  I ended up laying on DS's floor, singing to him for 30 minutes before he finally fell asleep and then I fell asleep on his floor.

Not being the most comfy ever, I had wild dream about a demon-posessed person attacking us.  He kept getting closer and closer to my face and I started freaking out yelling "help, help."  Except that I was actually yelling it, not just dreaming that I was yelling it, and I woke DS.  It was 7:15 by this time--DS normally sleeps until 8:00--so I got him up and sat with him in the rocker for a bit.

Moments ago DH called to see how things went after he'd left for work.  He comments, "Hmmmm . . . it's almost like DS had milk [DS can't handle any dairy and wakes screaming when he has it].  I wonder if there is milk in the golden grahams?"  So I checked . . . sure enough, milk's right there on the ingredient list.

So, not only did DH let DS eat sugary cereal for dinner, he neglected to check the ingredients.

Sorry to vent, but DH is soooooooo going to BW prison.

When DS first woke I thought it was OT b/c of the no-nap, but pretty sure it was really about the milk.   >:(

Oh Bethany, I can so relate!  Big hugs!!!!!  No nap can drive a mommy crazy, but add to it a DH who isn't helping any situation, whew!  Here's a virtual smack to the back of his head for you!  WAP!

I hope that helps some and that tonight is much better!  My DS isn't napping right now either, driving me crazy... ::)

The red sticker is a good idea.   ;D  Normally I don't buy stuff with milk in it, but DH went shopping and bought the golden grahams for himself.   ::)   Silly husband . . . just not tuned in to this milk thing.

Thanks for the virtual smack for DH.   ;D

Lovely update . . . DS is taking a nap.   :D  After our wild night I had no idea when to put him down, so I guessed and it seems to be working out.  He's been asleep for an hour and 45 minutes.  Will wake him if he hits 2.5 hours so we can try to get back to some sort of balanced routine after all the goofiness the last couple of days.

Thanks for the hugs and letting me vent.   :-*

:-* Sounds like things are going better today!  DS missed a nap this week and then had a crummy night sleep as a result.  He ended up napping from 12:45-3:30 the next day!  They almost always catch up again.  Sending peaceful sleep vibes to your house tonight, hon!
