Dairy not agreeing with LO
« on: October 11, 2007, 07:17:32 am »
My baby has had the runs for about a week now, didn't know if it was teething or something that she had eaten.  So, I went down the food eliminiation route, I've discovered that its cows milk and petit filous yoghurts.  Since I've stopped these she hasn't had the runs, a little bit yesterday but think that maybe the butter I put in her potatoes.  Is this something that she may grow out of & does anybody know if it is quite common?  My LO is 8 1/2 months. xx

From what I know, many babies cannot tolerate cow's milk and related dairy products prior to a year.  I know in some areas, it's recommended to wait until at least 9 months and some suggest even a year to offer any of these - their digestive systems seem to cope better when a bit older.

I'd hold off on dairy for a few months, then try reintroducing.  She might be okay when she's a bit older. If not, you can have a chat with her doc about it.  Any dairy allergies in the family, BTW?

No dairy allergies in the family, not really given her much just to cook with and yoghurts but I will leave it for a while.  Thanks.
