Should I wake from nap or leave to sleep?
« on: October 11, 2007, 13:43:04 pm »
I usually wake my 22 month DS after 2 hours of nap, and this usually works well for us. However, the last few days he's been off his food and I think he's fighting a tummy bug. Should I let him sleep longer as I know when I'm sick - it's sleep that makes me better.

What I would do is wake him up at normal time, spend a low key afternoon - books / favourite telly / snuggled up on the sofa, and then give him an early night. I'm pretty sure night-time sleep is more restorative than daytime, and you don't want his routine getting screwy when he's poorly.

Just what I'd do, {{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}} to lo
Caroline :)

Poor baby  :-* :-*...I agree with Caroline to wake him and just have a restful and peaceful afternoon as too long daytime sleep may affect his night time sleep..Hope he feels better soon

my dd has been poorly for 10 days with flu and this is just what I have been doing- she clearly needs extra sleep at the moment but keeping her naps to normal 2hrs means she has added on an hour to her night sleep! hooray for later wakeups, let's hope it stays like this!

Thanks ladies - unfortunately I got your replies after I had let him sleep an extra half an hour. He woke up much earlier this morning as a result! Silly me! Will keep it to 2 hours from now on.

Hope everyone's LOs get better soon.
