7 month old change in nap/
« on: October 13, 2007, 18:35:23 pm »
My dd is 7 months old and is such a great  baby. my question is she used to take a 3 hour nap inthe pm now she is only doing 1.5 ??? I got her up from it yesterday and she was exhausted and went back to sleep 1.5 hours after. just not sure why she changed...
this is her schedule
up 6:30-7am
bottle
solids at 8am
nap 8:30-9am (usually 45 min to an hour)
up at about 9:45ish
activity
bottle 10:30-11am
solids 12 noon
Nap 12-12:30 depending on when she got up from her nap.(Usually does 3 hours) last 2 days 1.5 !!!
bottle at 3
activity
dinner
catnap 5pm
get ready for bed
bottle
bedtime at 7pmish

now that her afternoon nap is shorter everything is getting shifted up. ie:catnap and bedtime. she sleeps throught the night no problem and just got over an ear infection. but she ALWAYS did 3 hours in the pm. I would not mind having 1.5 trust me my last DD never slept and that would be a dream then, but this baby needs a lot of sleep so if I get her up she is exhausted until her next nap. I

I just left her in ther for 45 minutes and she is still up!

any suggestions!!!!!!!!!!!

Try extending that awake time a little before the lunchtime nap may just need a slightly longer time before that nap for a longer nap. Does she wake up happy?

A 3hr nap is sooo long. I'm jealous, what did you do with all that time?  :P Does she sleep through the night even with the shorter nap?
It could be that your LO is transitioning to need less daytime sleep. My LO was a great napper, but went from 6hrs to 4hrs of daytime sleep almost overnight at 5 months old. She now has a maximum of 3hrs daytime sleep in total. Like PP said, if you extend A times it might get you a longer nap, and at the very least it will stretch her day out a little bit so that her bedtime is reasonable. Just do it in 5-10 min increments over the course of 3 days, otherwise you could get a 30 min nap instead!

it worked . I extended her A time before her afternoon nap and she took a 3 hour nap again. I know she needs a lot of sleep . always has, takes after her mommy. My first dd never slept and still does not need a lot of sleep so I deserved this one ;)

so I have another dd to take care of when Elena is sleeping this long. thanks for suggestions.  ;D
