Breakfast Ideas for 7 month old?
« on: October 14, 2007, 07:32:41 am »
Anyone have any breakfast ideas for my suddenly fussy breakfast eater? DS is just 7mo and has been on solids since 5 months and he is suddenly refusing most things he used to eat for breakfast. Pretty much the only thing I can guarantee he will eat is petit filous but I would obviously prefer he eats other things as well so any ideas greatly appreciated!! He is still eating a variety of things for other meals with no probs.

Stewed apple/other fruit purees with baby rice
baby porridge
boxed baby cereal
Jars of baby cereal (my dd is a fussy breakfast eater but she'll usually have the creamed porridge from a jar)
Stewed fruit on it's own

TBH, I'm not sure if it's a good approach but my DD rarely eats breakfast.  I have such a struggle getting it into her most days that some of the time I don't even bother trying and most of the time when I do, she'll only eat one spoonful etc.  It doesn't affect her naps or bedtime sleep so I'm assuming she's getting enough to eat with her other meals.

Good luck and hopefully he'll get a little easier.

Have you checked out the Recipes section? There was a thread a little while back on this topic which might have some ideas, otherwise, as babies don't really have the concept of what a breakfast 'should' be, you can offer anything you like, the food doesn't have to be what we would consider a traditionally 'breakfast' food.

If he won't eat the same things he happily eats at other times of the day, maybe he just isn't hungry.  Meghan doesn't eat much for breakfast either.  I usually just let her play with a hand full of Cheerios and maybe a little bit of baked apple or a small piece of banana.  She just isn't into it.
