Teeth can upset them more at night than during the day.  I say give meds 30min before bedtime tonight and see how she does. I have to admit when Lily is full on teething she has meds for nap & bedtime and at 4hr intervals through night if she wakes up.

Regarding the nap (probably too late now) but I always used to just let Lily sleep if she was tired at least that was the plan, but of course she would generally not sleep long because of being tired.

Peaceful Painfree sleeping to all 2-1T babies  :-* :-* :-*

Newmum--You are reading my mind (and my mother's!).  I just decided to do that.  It's great to have the confirmation.  Thanks!

We  had our first NW in ages last night at midnight and it was dirty nappy  :o That hasn't happened since L was a newborn! I could smell it from the hallway and it was very loose (sorry TMI) so it was probably a teething nappy but I am a bit paranoid because we have been mixing cows milk ín with her rice milk the last few days, she was MSPI but has been tolerating cheese and yoghurt. She woke at 6.35am ( a bit early compared to recent mornings) so she still had almost 13 hours but it was definitely disturbed by the BM, I may try and give 2 naps today just to make sure she is avoiding OT. Since the clocks went back I haven't given the evening catnap because it is so cold and dark it just seems wrong to drag L out in the pram so she can fall asleep just for me to wake her 20 mins later so she has been going to bed very early instead.

Laura Rose I hope the pain meds helped, I find when L is teething it is sometimes enough to give meds before bed only but on the nights I don't give any she cries in her sleep a lot  :'(  New Mum, how long did it take for Lily's molars to come through? L's are taking forever but I feel bad not giving her any meds before bed.

Hpope you have all had good nights  :)

Hi everyone

Newmum - thanks for the comments - I did give meds and teething powders before bed last night (as well as early to bed at 6pm as she only napped for 1.5 hrs yesterday) and she briefly woke at 10pm, then slept thro till 5am, chatted for a bit and fell back to sleep till 6.15 am - result!!!!!!!!!!!  Typical mother syndrome tho - I was awake at 4.30am waiting for her to wake up!  I think I need some meds too.....

Anyway - I am hoping to shift her day forward by 10 mins today - start working on the later rising - fingers crossed I'll get there sometime!

Hope everyone else is having a good day - and it's sunny where you are - it is here.

Lib the good teething wishes were meant for you, I got mixed up though I wouldn't be surprised if Laura Rose's Lo is also teething as it seems all the nap switch babies are! Sounds like you had a much better night, I also find giving the meds before bed help as it means they can get into a good decent, sleep early on which helps carry them through the night.

We were out this morning and L had a 20 min car nap so my fingers are crossed she'll take a decent nap around 1ish and can go to bed a little later than 5.30pm tonight  :) Here's hoping for no night poos  :D

Hi Scatty
thanks for the good wishes - Lily obviously felt them!!  She had a long nap this am (1.5hrs) so I am going to put her down for a catnap this pm and hopefully to bed at 6.30 after my DD wears her out at the park!

Re the night poos - I have to say Lily does them all the time - I know - yuk!  it doesn't seem to bother her as I haven't noticed any difference in waking etc when she doesn't.  She is a bit of a poo monster tho  - she can do up to 5 in a day :o.  Must be all the fruit she eats.

Have a great rest of the day, hope it goes well.

Lily's molars took a good 3 weeks before they stopped giving her grief, but then her last front tooth made an appearance, now I think canines are moving around so we seem to have been teething for months  :(

did her molars come thro before her front teeth new mum?  My Lily is the other way round.  I also thought there was a gap in time between the front set and the back set coming thro - may be this isn't true?  I know how you feel about it seeming like it goes on forever - kind of relentless isn't it?  There will be an end to it tho!!  Got to keep thinking of that.

Hello girls  :)

Lib, Im so glad the vibes are working, hopefully Lily will be nice and refreshed and ready for a good night sleep  ;)

New Mum the teething is never ending isn't it? :P

I feel like things are beginning to unravel here  :( we now realise last nights nappy wasnt due to teething but to the cows milk, Leorah has had some very unpleasant nappies today very reminiscent of how it was before we realised she had a cows milk intolerance. She had a 20 min nap in the car and then the afternoon nap was only 35 mins and with lots of tossing and turning probably due to her upset stomach. I guess we have to resolve ourselves to a few nights disturbed sleep until the milk is out of her system, she finds sleeping on her back and tummy uncomfortable when she has the intolerance. It's not all bad, she hasnt reacted like she used to do and she can eat cheese and yoghurt now so we are happy with that, the bad part is that it really interferes with her sleep  ::)

I am so annoyed with myself for waking L at 20 mins this morning, this has never worked for us and short nap always leads to short nap, I just hope I haven't done any long term damage! After she woke I took her out walking for over an hour but she didnt fall asleep, bumpíng into a friend didnt help. Looks like another 5.30pm bedtime.....

I am praying L and the other switch babes have a good nights sleep xx

Skatty--Hope you all are getting good rest.  I have my dear sister to thank for giving me a bit of a break last night.  She came to stay with me so she could take charge of Jack in the early morning.  I slept (with her LO who sleeps very soundly) out in an extra bedroom we have that's attached to our garage. I slept until 6:15. Jack, of course, was awake by 5:15.

Today I've pushed his morning nap back to 10:45 and I'm hoping it's a long one.  Then, we're going to shoot for a short late afternoon nap and a regular bedtime....just gotta do it! My sister is an angel to be here giving me the emotional (and physical!) support while DH is out of town.

Sorry for all the teething going on with everybody's LOs. I actually think that Jack is not teething right now, thankfully.

Lib - Lilly got 7 of her front teeth then molars came through before last front one decided to make an appearance and for some reason it seemed to cause a lot more pain than any of the front ones was almost on a par with molars  >:(

Skatty - sorry to hear Leorah is still intolerant to milk, hopefully it wont take too long to get out of her system so she feels better again soon  :-* I guess you've just got to try it every so often tho haven't you.

LauraRose - Glad you got a better nights sleep.  Yay to your sister helping you out.  Hope you get his schedule shifted soon  :)

New Mum - ahh that makes sense!  What age did your Lilly get her molars?  I still can't work out if my Lily is teething (first set of molars) or she has a cold.

Scatty - sorry to hear about the milk intolerance - I suppose at least you know what it is and can sort it.

Well my day yesterday went like clockwork - a very happy baby, put her to bed at 6.30 and she slept thro to 7.10 - fantastic.  However this morning I am now on the second put down - she seemed tired after just 2 hours, so I tried to put her down - no go.  I got her up and have just put her down again (3 hours) and she is starting to yell again and get upset, so this is going to be one of those days - I think I am going to have to get her up and go for the one nap day....... oh joys of the transition!  Got to go!

Morning all  :)

Laura Rose you sister sounds lovely and supportive, big forum kiss to her  :-*

Lib, yesterday sounds perfect and what a great night, perhaps that's why DD wants more A time today? Leorah also appears tired when she is bored, in fact she never looks tired when she is tired  :P

Last night went well after all, I think Leorah was very tired from the short naps so went to bed at 5.30pm and slept until 7.30am  :o From 6am we did hear the occassional sigh or groan and she still has an upset tummy. New Mum you are right, we have to try and also rice milk costs us £50 a month so as she was eating cheese and yoghurt we thought there was a good chance milk would be ok.

L went swimming with DH this morning and is now napping so I am praying it's at least her usual 1hr15. Martin is taking her out again later to kick some leaves around and maybe look for shells on the beach so I am hoping she may be tired enough for an early catnap so we could push bedtime up a bit but as long as she can make it until 5.30pm I don't really mind. The worst thing about the teething is the cough from all the saliva trickling down L's throat when sleeping, it disturbs her naps and nights and sometimes she wont get back to sleep again aaahhhh!!

Lib, I think Lily was about 16months  :-\  cant quite remember.  Lily always gets a rotten teething cold when teething, particularly top teeth, gets such a blocked nose, cough the works.  It takes a while to figure out if its a real cold or teething cold.  In fact the only way I can generally tell is that it seems to come from nowhere and no one else catches it from her.  Have found rubbing baby Vicks on her back and chest really help her sleep when all blocked up.

May I join in? I have 14 month old twins (12 adjusted) and they are both transitioning to one nap, and for different reasons. DD wants to take a long nap in the morning, so the pm nap is too late. DS cannot sleep more than 30 min in the morning unless I push the nap to more than 4.5 hrs. So, here we go...

Since the time change Sunday we have had weird mornings. One of them wakes the other early, and we either have to separate them- dd in her crib, ds in the bassinet in our room- or let them try to go back to sleep on their own. Separating them works better, but ds won't fall asleep for another 45 min, most of the time on my chest. And then the schedule is out of wack for the day. Sunday morning they went down for their nap at 10:15, Monday at 11:15, today at 10:30. Bedtime was 6pm, 7pm, 6:30. A "type-A's" nightmare.

Anyway, they are sleeping at least 1:15 in the am now. YAY! DD was able to sleep 2 hrs on Sunday. The afternoon is yucky, though, because dd will not go back into her crib. So far, a drive is all that will get her to take that pm catnap. On Sunday ds actually took an hour+ nap in the pm (he hasn't taken 2 full naps in 2 months) and I had to wake him because it was 5pm.

I think I can handle the crazy pm nap for a while, but the EW is getting to me. They are only sleeping about 10 hrs at night. Will this fix itself once their naps get longer and later, or is this another problem altogether? MAYBE they are getting 12 hrs for the day.

Since we have no tight schedule, here is what we are shooting for based on early wake times:

5/ 5:30 wake* for 2 out of 3 days we were able to get them to go back to sleep
10/ 10:30 nap (1 hr 15 min)
3:15/ 3:30 catnap?
6:30 bed (6, if no catnap)
