Yeah about the jinxed thing...5:38 this morning, then 35 min nap and wakeup crying!  AAAhhhhh.  2 eye teeth popped through, please tell me that's why, and after the  3 days prior of 6 am or later wakeup, that it's not gone.

This is his day so far:
5.30 wake up crying
6.15 Breakfast
8.30 snack
9.00 nap
11.05 DH woke him up
11.30 lunch
14.30 snack
15.00 nap
16.00 wake up
17.30 dinner

Plan to put him to bed at around 19.30

Malinka - I would think it's a bit early to transition - you might want to slowly push that first nap later to see if that helps with the EWs. In terms of the NWs - you might want to post in the NW board. What is he doing when he wakes up?

As for us - I am wondering if we have the opposite problem!  Katie's first nap is 10:30am (I wake her at 45 mins) and so her PM nap is almost 3pm by the time she is interested in sleeping (!)  I am wondering if I should try and slowly move her AM nap a bit earlier so that her PM nap moves a bit earlier!  Does anyone have any thoughts?  She wakes up somewhere around 6:30 or 7am most mornings - sometimes I have to wake her at 7.

Bryony - thanks for your quick reply,
We'll go for more A time in the morning. When he wakes up we chat and cuddle and then head for breakfast. He usually is very hungry in the morning.

Uuups sorry
He's sitting i crib whining. Most of the times we do PD and he goes right back to sleep. Sometimes we have to do PU/PD. Sometimes we only hear him selfsoothe.

Bryony, cut the am nap to 30minutes but then bring the pm nap to 2.5-3hrs later

so wake 6:30/7
nap 10:30-11
nap 2-3:30---but have her in bed by 1:30/1:45
bed 7/7:30

Malinka - if he wakes up but gets himself back to sleep I wouldnt' worry!  That doesn't really count as a NW in my books  ;D  It only counts if I have to get out of bed  ;)  He may be overtired due to the early wakings - think slowly moving the first nap later (and shortening it to 45 mins if needed) is the first thing to try. Do all changes gradually though.

Deb - thanks - this will be my next stage then!

Bryony - As I wrote earlier we don't have to get up every time. Anyway at least once every night we do have to get up.
We'll be moving the first nap forward starting tomorrow. Hope it works.

Quick question guys. We had the first decent nap since we started our 2-1 nap. About 2 hours, ending about 1:10. SHe woke the AM at 5:45. Should I still put her down at 6PM like I have, or put her down a bit later. I really don't want to screw this up as we are just starting the transition (10 days) and have been dealing with 45 minute naps, OT and early wake-ups.

Thoughts???

Linda

Linda, I would stick with that bedtime for now, its only just under 5hrs from nap to bedtime and 5hrs is about what you want.  Hopefully you should get a really good night and good wake up time in morning.

Bryony: how long is the A time from wake-up to the first nap.  I put Eric down 3hrs. after he wakes up, so he wakes at 7:15am, usually, then I put him down at 10:15, wake 40 min. later, then the pm nap is at 2:00pm.  I might have to shorten the am nap again, I just shortened it but today it took him twenty minutes to fall asleep.

Pam - Katie's A times are 3.5hrs or so - we get up at 7am and goes down for her nap at 10:30am. She's usually awake already at 7am but is happy going until 10:30am most days regardless of what time she actually awoke.

She really sleeps SOOO well at her morning nap though I feel mean waking her!  Even at the 45 mins mark she is difficult to wake. After all those months fighting 45 min naps who would have known it?!!

If I wake her at 30 mins I think she will be almost impossible to wake!!

~Bryony - personally I wouldn't do 30mins until the very last step. Have you tried letting her sleep long morning nap & offering an afternoon catnap instead??? Sorry I dont have the time to read all the other posts sorry if you have already done this & it didn't work :P

Layla - thanks!  I have done it this way too once or twice (long AM nap plus catnap) and it works out fine at present. However it was more difficult for her to settle for the catnap and I was worried that there would come a point where she refused the catnap... leaving a very long afternoon till bedtime!  I think long AM nap plus catnap feels more intuitively right to me - but I got nervous!  Do you have experience of doing it this way?
