I just want to give some encouragement as we have just transitioned. Unlike you we always had short naps (2 x 30/40 mins) and once we first transitioned were getting 50-1hr15. I would put DD to bed early or sometimes would take her out for a walk in the pram so she could get a 20 min catnap and this would give us 2 hours to feed, bath her and bedtime routine and would mean she could have a normal bedtime of about 7pm. After about 2 weeks of having a long morning nap and a short catnap DD started to wake at around 7am instead of 6am and now about 6 weeks later it is more like 7.30-8am, her naps are also 1½-2 hours which is great for her (hope it lasts!). We only did the catnap a few weeks because the early bedtime didn't mean she woke earlier but if you get the EWs I totally recommend you do whatever you can to get a catnap in (drive, pushchair, sling). I must admit I think this transition is harder on those who have LO's that have been consistantly good nappers, our whole first year was stressful when it came to naps so I guess it couldn't get any worst
Anyway good luck and maybe visit the girls on the 2-1 nap switch, they are really supportive
