Cluster Feed instead of Dreamfeed
« on: October 31, 2007, 11:06:30 am »
M6y LO is 4.5 months old, EBF and on 3.5 hour EASY.  Sometimes I think the DF is disrupting my LOs sleep. Right now we have one nightfeed at 3:30 am which is not too bad but then he tries to get up for the day at 5:30 am (another story) There have been nights when I cluster fed instead of the dreamfeed and he has skipped the nightfeed and woke up at 5:30 am.    (The nights we have CF were nights he woke up 2 hours after being put to bed so around 9 pm.)  My question is if you are going to CF do you wake him up to do so at the same time every night or just let him wake up on his own??

Thanks for your help

hi there

by cluster feeds- what do you mean exactly?

I think you're sort of mixing DF with cluster feeds.
DF is when you feed your baby in his sleep after he's been put down for the night, not later than at 10:30/11pm [before your bedtime] to avoid his waking up in the middle of the night asking to be fed.

cluster feeds are the feeds you offer before bedtime to fill your baby up so that he doesn't wake before DF- that's for younger babies.
for 4,5months old baby you don't usually do the cluster feeding, just DF.

here's more info: DF
'tanking up'
