Hello to all. I'm new on Babywhisperer and so glad to hear that I'm not the only ones goint through this.Have any of you parents solved the problem? If so how did you do it? It's been over three weeks now and it's really starting to take its toll. My son is getting more and more hyper from the lack of sleep, but this doesn't make him sleep any longer. He's up at 5 am every morning, bouncy and full of energy. Then by 6.30 am he's ready to go back to bed, and has a nap for about an hour. Then he'll sleep from 2 to 4 pm, then go down at 8 pm for the night. What should I do??? We're getting sooo desperate.

i guess maybe move his bedtime to 7 as i guess that 8 is too late for him and that's why he waking up early.  I'm not one to talk my ds is going through things too right now, mainly freaking fits when it's time to sleep but i do know that if he goes to bed too late he wakes early in the am.

do you guys have this sorted yet?
I am posting on the stickied earlier waking support board because Noah is now waking at 4am. and is usually asleep by 6:30pm.
he absolutely refuse to go back to sleep, although I try until 6:30am
today I tried for a catnap at 9:30 and he refused but was knackered by 10:20
and asleep by 10:40---I was going to wake him after 10min but that would have pushed his pm nap quite late already and actually he was dead asleep and couldn't be woken,
so I let him sleep and not sure I did the right thing or not.

Oh Deb...4am  :'(  That's awful!  Good luck with the 5pm catnap.

What time would you like him to go to bed, knowing how many hours he will sleep at night?

You said that a 10 min nap would push the day too long.  How long can he go on 10min?

well if I would have woken him after 10min, he probably would have napped again at 12:45/1---and then I would have needed him up again by 2/2:30---thats really what I should have done. but he was sleeping so peacefully I was hopeing he would sleep 2.5hrs and get caught up a bit.

I am going to try for a catnap just before 5pm and bedtime at 7
the thing is we have been doing bed at 6, and he has been asleep by 6:30, so when he wakes at 4am--hes either hungry from an early supper and won't go back to sleep or he has had 9.5hrs already and doesn't feel the need/tiredness to go back to sleep.
not sure on this point but I am really tired of him going to sleep so early--its not helping anything.

so I'm trying a diffrent plan, to put hi to bed crazy late, so that he sleeps later

Might as well, what's going to happen...early waking from OT?

I still do a catnap in the morning when the day is shifting to an early bedtime and early waking (thankfully not 4am, just earlier than I want).  Then the pm nap falls later, and bedtime can fall later.

Good luck.
