Number two is on the way and this time I want to do it RIGHT!!
« on: November 25, 2007, 14:26:09 pm »
Hi. I am awaiting lo #2 and I do not want to do things the way I did them last time around. Please, does anyone have some helpful advice for how to start doing EASY from the very beginning. I want to do it from day 1 so that we can avoid all the accidental parenting we are still trying to do with our dd.

To all those mums who started out the right way, please share how you did it. When they're newborn, I feel like it's different bc they need more sleep and food. What did you find worked for you and when did you start expecting them to sleep through the night and all that. Thanks for your help.

hi, i just had #2 lo 6 weeks ago.  #1 is 2 1/2.

i had inlaws and my own parents visit from the start, so that was great help for #1, keeping him busy etc.  as for implementing easy...  i started when everyone left, so he was about 4 weeks old.  this time round, i didn't let everyone hold him all the time, drag him around in the car sight-seeing (both sets of parents are from out of town), and generally did not let him get overtired or overstimulated.  so for the first 4 weeks, i let him feed whenever he wanted, and pretty much put him right back to sleep.

then i started with a rough 3 hour easy.  shorter a-time.  we are two weeks into it, and now i think he is going through his first growth spurt, so am going to cut back to 2 1/2 hour easy for a few days to fill him up.

and he was a completely different baby for it.  hardly cried, fed and slept well.  bean, on the otherhand, i had no idea with and i had props all over the place!  i didn't know about tracy's work till he was around 3 months.

Hi there  :)

Be sure to check out our EASY FAQ's....at the top of the EASY FORUM.
Introducing EASY to a 2nd Child
and
How to start your baby on EASY
are two really good ones.   :)

Most lo's don't get on a real EASY until close to 6-8 weeks.  It's great to start to implent the ideas of EASY from day but really use those first few weeks to get to know your new baby...learn their cues, what kind of baby they are, what kind of patterns they form.  During those weeks they basically eat and sleep (A time consists of about 45 minutes - 1 hour, including A time) all day long.

Let us know, after browsing the FAQ's, if you have any other questions to help get you started!  :D

Totally agree Melissa  :)

DD2 is almost 6 weeks old and we are really just beginning to figure out some sort of routine.  I honestly thing being too focussed on EASY can be too stressful in the early weeks.  DO take time to enjoy your baby and not worry too much about doing everything right.  You and baby will pick things up along the way.   :-*
