Time sensitive help needed please please please:)
« on: November 29, 2007, 09:07:08 am »
Abbi has always slept through the night and napped well since 6 months.  but yest she went to nursery, they only put her down for one 25 min nap ALL DAY. She settled well for bed, but then woke up SCREAMING at 12,1,3,4:30,5,6, and finally woke up at 8. Each time she woke she was really really screaming, rubbing her eyes etc.... and then screamed for over 1/2 hr  :( Is this all due to her being OT? i work so hard on my daytime nap rotuine and it has always been fine so can one day of no sleep really produce all this? I changed her nappy and tried to give her milk which of course she refused so just wondering if being ot has caused this? She is so exhausted she fell asleep in my arms at 9am and I have put her to bed, was that the right thing to do? I could keep her up, I was thinking of then giving her her two o clock nap as normal? Waht do you think? Dont want a repeat of last night, any thoughts on nap times and if ot caused it

Thanks so much xxxxxxx

Emma, let her catch up today, you did the right thing putting her down when she was tired.

What I wondered when I read your post though is "why did she only nap 25 mins at nursery".  She goes to nursery often, so what went wrong for her to get so little sleep there?  Is she teething or something? Ill at all?

Nope they just didnt put her down until 12:30 for some reason , because David told them she slept in slightly yest so she should be ok for a good while, silly man, she still needs a morning nap, even if it would be half hour later ::) I need to have words with them really they keep not sticking to the routine  :( Thanks for answering, most likely to be a one off isnt it...... please say yes  ;) she is getting over a cold but has been fine since she has had the cold odd waking here and there but settles very quick, she cut 2 teeth over 2 weeks ago, but I did dose her up just in case it was teething but nope that didnt help and that was calpol and nurofen  :(

Glad to know I did the right thing, couldnt face waking her when she was so snuggly in my arms

I'm not wanting to be the one giving bad news, but my first had night wakings week after week after week until he moved to 1 nap at 21months while he was in childcare, he always slept poorly there & as a consequence slept badly at night too

Zara was the same Kate. Not to say the carers didn't try to get her to sleep, but we all know how hard it can be to get a spirited baby to sleep LOL.

Emma if she has been sleeping fine when they stick to the routine, you should't have more problems, if I remember correctly she has been going for quite some time already hasn't she?  If not, you could be in for a long run of this but I hope not for your sake.

She has been going for a while, but they usually give her the 2 naps and I work it so I can give her a catnap when she gets in if they havent stuck to it but it was too late yesterday, As I said its the first nw she has really had in months, when she has at least 2hr-2.5hrs sleep in the day she is fantastic! Any less and although there are no nw's she sleeps a little restlessly but 25 mins sleep all day, really took the biscuit, they seem to think that they are not there to sleep, when they stick to my nap times she sleeps a good length, but when they let her nap after too much a time she only sleeps for about 20 mins, i will just have to keep reminding them. She has now been asleep for one hr 10 mins so hope she wakes up at 2hr mark nice and refreshed! thanks both x

When you are reminding them, tell them how bad the night was.  They can't just ignore the routine with such a huge potential impact on your home life.

I will do def.  She got up at 11am, she has also now got bright bright red cheeks and feels very very hot, seems like teething, but I dont want to blame numerous night wakings on that, maybe it was the combo of being ot and teeth then, oh so confused lol

Oh poor kid.  With Zara I only ever blamed teething on slight temperatures, there was always another explanation for temperatures 38C and over.

How is she now?
