Hi

thanks so much for your ideas

I have been thinking about extending the 2nd A time, but then I start to run out of day IYKWIM, dont really want it longer than 13 hours. If I have 2 A times of 3, 40 + 1,30 nap then we are at 9 hours, if she's up at 7.30 am and want her asleep by 8.30pm then we are already at 4.30, if she has any longer than an hour she wont want to sleep at 8.30? So should I then try for just a 45 min 2nd nap and to sleep by 8pm?

Argggh???

Been thinking of things to add to the wind down as well as the bf (we are in darkened room for this), so wary of becoming the prop though if she doses too much - is your lo pretty sleepy as he goes down??

Any thoughts appreciated

excellent question on the nap length with A times....this is what I'm beginning to wonder about.  Right now, my dd's A times are right at 3 hrs, naps at 1.5, sometimes 2, so it works out beautifully.  But when she's up longer than 3 hrs, I think the idea is then she moves to a 12.5/13 hr day...so something like this maybe:

7:30 - wake
11 - sleep
12:30 - wake
4 - sleep
5:30 - wake
8 - bed

hmmm....I"m not sure that would work for my dd as I look at it.....maybe try shortening both naps 10 or 15 min?

Have  you checked out the sample EASY routines on this page:

sample EASY for 6-12 mos

I found some good ones there when my dd was 6 mos, and I've modified it now that she's doing 3 hrs of A time.  I believe, eventually, it's the morning nap that you shorten and finally they go to just one nap.

I know one of the other nap mods has an older lo who I'm sure does more than 3 hrs of A time - Aly, can you post Lily's routine?  I'll PM her if she doesn't see this and ask her to post it.

About the wind down - Abby is pretty sleepy when I put her in her crib, but she does not fall asleep while eating.  Every once in a blue moon she will, but after she eats, I put her in her sleep sack and we do prayers and a song, so that will wake her up so that she still goes in the crib awake.  Does that help?

Emma - I've gone ahead and locked this thread since it's really more of an EASY question at this point, and I noticed on your other thread you said we could go ahead and lock one.  I'll be following it over there as well.

This topic can be followed over on the EASY board:

EASY going sooo wonky for a 9  month old
