6 month old loves to look outside

My six month old son loves looking out the window. I put him in his infant seat and there are times when he will spend 30+ minutes looking and playing with his hands, etc without complaining.  Is that ok?  I feel guilty that I am not interacting with him.

That's ABSOLUTELY fine. He will learn a lot and it's also calming. Constant interaction can actually be overstimulating at such a young age. No, at ANY age, I can't interact all day either.

If you did this every day, all day, then I would worry.  Take advantage of a quiet 30 minutes now and then... he'll be on the move soon enough  ;)

My DD loves the outside still at 14 months! I have always wrapped her up well and let her sit in her pushchair in the garden watching the birds and the trees in the breeze, She is very spirited and this is the best winddown  :)
