Thanks Michelle, vanilla sounds yummy! I will ok it with the dietician and give it a try! We are going onto the flavoured neocate soon, but I bet the docs would be delighted if I saved them some money and if she drank it better than the neocate, that would be great

Rice milk is sort of sweet and DEFINITELY better tasting than Necoate. As former allergy mod and with a DD who had to be on Neocate for a while too, I definitely know it can be hard. Definitely see what the dietician thinks and like I said, if she is OK with OJ you can buy that with calcium too. Good luck!

You're quite welcome. Have been so busy lately that haven't been on this forum much but trying to help where I can since I've needed quite a bit of sleeping input for my toddler lately! But Kelly (Jimbob) has been doing a GREAT job with this forum.

It is nice to see you around this forum again Karen. Thank you for the praise.

Sarah, if you decide to try the rice milk just make sure your dd will still be getting enough good fats and other nutrients. I know there was another mum on a different site that used to add oil to her son's rice milk to increase the calories. Have you tried the blackcurrant flavoured neocate yet?

Hi Kelly,

No, have not received the blackcurrant neocate yet.  I have decided to offer rice milk at lunch as a drink and the 2 neocate bottles as normal, David said that Abbi wolfed down 4 oz of the rice milk at lunch, she LOVED it, so at least its another way of getting the calcium in!

So glad to hear it! Yes, as Kelly said with rice milk be sure to get in some good fats and other nutrients. I'd definitely recommend a good multi-vitamin and also foods like guacamole/avocado if she'll eat them, bacon, etc.

I'm sorry I haven't read all the responses but are you giving Abbi vitamin D? It helps to absorb calcium better.
I know in UK it is not a standard thing to offer babies vitamin D but in quite a few countries paeds prescribe Vitamin D3 as a standard to ALL babies. It's 2 drops a day and for babies who may be deficient it can be even 5 drops a day. UK is not a very sunny place so we don't get enough vitamin D which aids calcium absorption. Just a thought
