Lyn- Marina loves chicken roasted with garlic.  I just drizzle with olive oil and mashed garlic.  All things garlic is the girls' fav these days.  Mj wasn't too thrilled with the Kidney beans, but liked Lentils.

Yes, edamame is the same as soya beans

I would wait until he can handle a cheerio or a pea easily with the pincer grip as well as he seems adept at mashing food with his mouth.  I think I waited until 8 months.

Jaylabliss - I don't think Katie could pick up peas and beans until she was about 9 months old - but it all varies... Katie first had kidney beans in a chilli when she was about 9 months I think - she loved them, but they do tend to end up in the nappy in a fairly undigested form  :-[

So, I had the vegetables leftover from the crockpot chicken and I had some leftover fish.  So, I mixed them all together and made fish cakes.  Meghan loved them!

There were onions, but I didn't put them in.  Just cut up some carrots, celery, garlic, zucchini and put them in the crockpot, cover with a bunch (2.5-3 pounds) chicken.  Top that with salt, pepper, rosemary, more garlic, and thyme (I think that's it, can you tell I was "adapting" this recipe a bit? LOL).  Then pour in 1/2 cup white wine and a cup of chicken broth.  Cook for 4-4.5 hours on high.  Then I melted some butter(about a third of a stick) in a pan, added some flour (2-3 Tbs), stirred for a few minutes, then strained and added just the broth from the crockpot.  Stir all that until it's bubbling and thickened and that's the gravy.  Just poured it back on top of the chicken/veggies.  It was really yummy!

Thanks! :-*

Just thought I'd share.

Alice has eaten loooooaaaaads today.  She had about 10 pieces of pasta for lunch and about 10 pieces of pasta, a couple of pieces of roasted courgette and a couple of pieces of roasted sweet potato for dinner.  She barely ate anything for breakfast, but that was probably due to falling off the side of our bed, mummy's reflexes weren't quick enough.  They really are up and down aren't they?

Pauline - that's great!  My boys hardly ate anything today!  Kayden's diet is strictly limited to yoghurt and white (!!!!!!) bread at the moment - he won't even entertain the idea of anything else, including brown or granary bread.  Terrible!  Must be teeth because he's very grumpy too and the fingers are back in the mouth 24/7.  :-(  Brynley is eating a little bit more but doesn't have his usual healthy appetite.  Here's hoping it's just a very short phase.
Nights have been more disturbed too, but thankfully no nursing, so I think we've cracked that one!!

I know we touched on this before... but regarding milk quantities... does anybody think there's any benefit of cutting down on milk quantities at this age (11 months)?  They have about 20ozs of formula and a breastfeed (I don't think they get much) each day.  I wonder if they'd eat more solids if I started to cut back their milk.  But I'm terrified that they'll start waking at night if I did it too soon!!

Vicky, you could try giving solids before milk and then the milk might decrease naturally.  I'm planning to do this around 10 months and then around a year transition to 3 milk feeds per day.  Alice takes in 32 ozs of milk per day.  She finishes off 4 X 8 oz bottles.  I guess if you feel they don't get much in the breast feed you could eliminate that one first and see how you go.  However I don't breast feed, so don't know really.

Oh, by the by, Alice's first tooth popped through yesterday.  ;D ;D ;D  I could kind of feel a wee sharp bit, but wasn't sure, but definitely felt it today.  I could see the buds just below the gums for weeks.  Apparently the first ones are the worst.

We had our 9 month check yesterday and our doc recommended 20 ounces from now until 12 months.  Right now we have 4 bottles, 5-6 ounces each.

Congratulations on the tooth Pauline and Alice!

For those of you who are doing peanut butter, how do you give it?  I was thinking small peanut butter balls, but my recipe has honey.

Lyn,

I'd just spread it on toast! Well I wouldn't 'coz I think it's vile, but if I liked it, I'd do that ;)!

I agree with Alison, on toast, bread or pancakes.  I also agree that it's vile!!  ;)  However, we can't do nuts until she's over 1 because of family allergies.  Oh well.

Alice had beansprouts tonight and seemed to really like them.

Lyn, love the new pic, but why only two and not three?
