Anyone have any cute ideas or tips for decorating Christmas cookies with a fresh three year old and possibly a few of the neighborhood children?

I don't know about "cute" lol, but I splurged on cookie decorator icing. A big one in white and a smaller sparkly one in red. Also green sprinkles. We made a huge batch of sugar cookies which dd could cut out herself pretty well, and then she sploodged icing everywhere!  ;D

don't?!   :P

my kids love to do sprinkles.  you can do those either before or after you bake sugar cookies.

you could make some really runny icing & have them dip their cookies; then it will dry & harden.

or, you could frost cookies ahead of time & have them put on chocolate chips or candy decorations.

r u in the states? i just looked at the dec issue of Real Simple in borders today (costs $13 an issue here so i just browse  :D) - they had a little feature of a cookie decorating party with neighbour kids etc.  i will check online and see if it is there too as i wanted the cookie recipes anyway...  nope not online. if you can get the mag it had cookie recipes and tips and photos

otherwise what we are doing is basic sugar cookies and gingerbread and then using lots of cutters for different shapes (we're doing chanukah and xmas shapes). i have cake decorating coloured gel "pens" and i will have sprinkles, silver balls and maybe choc chips and let them "go to town"

Hi there,
Add a little food colour to egg yolk and then paint it on the uncooked cookie. The cookies, once baked, have a coloured glaze on them. You can do faces, patterns, whatever the kids like.

What's a good recipe for cookies which have to be cut out with cookie cutters?
