Question re: what to wear under sleep sack
« on: December 13, 2007, 18:49:34 pm »
Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the right board for this... if not, please feel free to move it. DD had been wearing an all-season sleepsack (its thickness/warmth is between that of the light cotton ones and heavy fleece ones) for many months with a pajama top and bottom underneath. She had also been using a blanket sometimes on top of her sleepsack (her request).  It's been a lot colder and windier here recently and I decided to change her to the heavier microfleece sleep sack with a thick pajama top and cotton shorts underneath. The past couple mornings I've noticed that her legs and feet are not warm (not cold, just not warm like I would expect) when I get her up. She does have access to a blanket in her crib but is not using it anymore apparently. Her room is about 68 degrees or so at night. Just wondering what others dress their toddlers in under sleepsacks? I don't want her to be cold but also am a little concerned of her getting too warm as she can't take any layers off by herself if needed. She hasn't complained or woken early from cold or anything, maybe it's just me being a worrywart! :) Thanks.
Jenny

well, DS uses a really heavy fleece one, and underneath i put him some fleece pjs and his regular longsleeved cotton undershirt, and i try to keep the room at 68 degrees. Have you tried using also fleece pj bottoms?

I hadn't tried that... the ones we were using previously were regular cotton (a little thicker cotton though). Wow, maybe I am underdressing her  ???
I was trying to go by some guidelines (from another company that makes similar sleepsacks) that I found online and that said only to put a onesie on underneath. for about 68 degrees ??? I think I will try the cotton pj pants (full-length ones) tonight and see how her legs feel in the morning. If they're still not really warm I'll go out tomorrow and get some fleecy ones. Thanks a lot for your response!  :)

Thanks Deborah,
That helps to know what others are doing. I put her in the thick cotton pj set tonight as planned so we'll see how that goes. May have to consider some socks too if her feet aren't warm in the morning. I put a little blanket over her legs too as she likes to have one in her crib but that's probably already kicked off by now!  ::)

Thanks for that Stacy.
Well, DD seemed to do fine with the thicker cotton pj's last night... her legs were warm this morning and her feet felt okay too. Now if I could just get her to nap!  ::) But that's a whole other issue... ha ha
