Ugh-

She vomited again this morning, and tonight has diarrhea.  Poor, poor baby.

Apparently this stomach virus is going around.  I hope you all don't catch it.

Hope all goes well with you girls.

Leslie

Sending some more get well hugs for M  :-*

Its doing the rounds in UK too, so far we seem to have missed it but Lily has had a quite nasty bum for almost a week, not full on diarhea (although we did get a few trumping accidents) but by no means right either, plus a nasty cold, which I think she is over worst off.

What goes on????

Today we had a decent day- no vomiting, no diarrhea, woke up at 6:30am, took 1 nap from 10:56am-12:20pm, and is now refusing to go to sleep.  I tried to put her in at 4:50pm, and it's now 6:15pm.

AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Probably all that sleep she got when ill  :-\

Leorah's naps are crap at the mo', we haven't had one over a 1hr15 in over a week and she cannot manage to stay up much past 4½ hours but if it near 1½ or more she can stay up 5 hours or more easily. It drives me crazy too as it is all so ínconsistant. When she wont sleep does she cry or can you leave her? L will just play in the dark with her dummies and maybe have a natter and then go off. If L cries at bedtime or nighttime I know there is something up and usually it's teething, if she doesn't settle with PD then I know she is in pain. Did her molars come yet? They are so big you can have one corner break through then a break and another part break through.

keep us informed, I am glad she is feeling better  :)

She finally went to sleep at 7:15pm, and slept til 6:40am this morning.  She was up 7 hours after her nap!  She cries when she can't fall asleep, she's not much for playing in her crib.  No molars yet, but she did fall asleep after I gave her some teething gels (though she already had Tylenol when I put her in her crib).

Katt- what's a natter?

natter - chatting  ;D

You are so lucky she can do 7 hours with no NWs! Leorah can do 5hrs but not everyday, I am starting to push her nap back as I want to try and take some of her night sleep and put it on the nap as her days are only averaging about 10 hours! Everytime we push the nap she starts getting OT, see there is always something isn't there lol  :)

But what a great nap!
Don't worry - it will inevitably take a little time to both get over the illness and to recover from the change in routine. Because everything has been so disrupted, I think you may have to look at it as though you're starting again from scratch (but with a MUCH less OT child!) and stick to a consistent pattern for a week. However, because she is much less OT, waking up later and is sleeping better during the day, you might need to shift the times on a bit - if she woke at 6:30am and slept almost 1.5 hours for her nap, it's unlikely she'll be ready to go to sleep by 5pm.

Not sure if you'd be better making a jump to 11:30 / 5:30 (or maybe even 6pm as she is sleeping longer for naps now) or whether you should do the careful nudging it by 15 mins every few days. Making a jump worked for us and I'd be tempted given that she's had so much rest the past few days. HOWEVER! That does risk it all going badly wrong so please don't just do it on my advice!!

What does everyone else think?

I don't think she can do 7 hours with no NWs, last night was just a fluke.  Beginning to think it's separation anxiety, as tonight she was screaming again as soon as I left the room.  I stayed for about 10 mins, and left.  Not sure if she fell asleep while I was in there, but she was screaming again about 35 mins later.

6:40am Awake
11:12am- 12:24pm Nap
5:15pm In crib (asleep by 5:30pm, and 1 NW so far)

I think I'll leave things as is for a few days and see if it works itself out.

Anybody have any thoughts on the nighttime screaming?

Leorah had similar kind of crying and screaming when she was getting her molars. DH stayed in the room a few days but then we decided it was doing her no favours and if we knew she had had pain meds we did WI/WO. The thing with SA is I don't really get it, I know they can love the company but I don't buy that our clever kids really think we are deserting them! Saying that L still shows signs of it now and then.

I agree with Momma Holmes, if she is having longer nights and naps she will be able to handle a longer A time. We nudged L's morning A time on just 5 mins yesterday and she slept an hour and a half, I think it was a fluke though as I have looked at all her different A times and there isn't a pattern  ::) I must be one of the only mums in the world that is looking forward to the day s of no naps ruling my life, at least then we could have days out  :P

Last night we had some NWs, after the 1st one she settled herself but I heard her at 7:40pm, 8:10pm, 12:57am, and 4:57am, and then she woke for the day at 6:01am.  I think I'll leave the nap at 11:10am with the EW.

Katt- like Momma  Holmes has suggested, there is NO pattern to our kids sleeping.

I think you're right to leave the nap where it is if you've got NW and EW again. Give it a few days to settle down and then shift.

Katt - I'm totally with you on the SA thing! I don't think that LOs at this age really think you're going to leave them, but they do prefer you to be there rather than not IYKWIM? They are really learning how to push your buttons and ensure that you keep them company! I think this becomes even more the case when they are finding it difficult to get to sleep and stay asleep, it's not fun for them either. So I suppose you *could* describe it as SA, but I do think that you can make the problem worse rather than better if you spend too much time trying to reassure them.

I'd be interested to know what New Mum thinks on this as I know that Lily was showing a lot of SA behaviours when she was OT.

She wasn't going to make it til 11:10am today, so I stretched her A time as long as I could, and she fell asleep at 10:50am.  She only slept 40 mins (her father dropped something, which made a very loud noise and woke her) but I managed to extend another 30-35 mins.  Bedtime again at 4:50pm, and she fell asleep while I was singing.

Crossed fingers for a good night.

AAAARRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!

I'm going to lose it- 45 mins after she went to sleep, she's up screaming.  We're going on 45 mins, and I can't take it anymore!!!!

Is WI/PD/WO my answer?  And if so, how long do I wait before walking in again?

Yes that is definitely the answer, I wait about a minute and usually she has settled by then, anymore than that winds her up! It sounds like she has got OT again if she is waking after 45 mins, she is probably stil a bit under par from her sickness. I hope the rest of the night was better  :)
