Quick question re: WI/WO

When my little man is upset at bedtime or naptime, he immediately stands up.  When I do the WI part, do I lay him back down?  Or do I just go to him, and try to comfort him from outside the crib?

How old is he? Is he able to lay back down on his own?

You can wi/put down & comfort (like rub his back or chest) & then wo
