what is with the 2:30am waking????????
« on: January 17, 2008, 22:58:46 pm »
Well with much thanks to Bryony we have gone from waking every two hours all night to one night waking  ;D
BUT it is always at the same time 2:30! :o
Now I know I should not be complaining as things are definitely better than they have been but I am still wanting that full night sleep!
I am wondering if she is undertired because she is just awake and grizzles ect...
She lies still untill I think she is asleep so I trot off to bed and then as soon as my head hits the pillow AWAKE!!!!! This usually happens every 8-10 mins! Naughty! Last night she stayed awake until her early feed time then slept soundly for another 3 hours. ARRRGH
I have tried W2S the last 2 nights to no avail  :-\
I will post her routine again becasue any advice on tweaking it to get rid of this waking would be GREATLY appreciated
Thanks Kristy xo

DD is 8.5  months old and formula feed over the whole day she usually has around 20oz of milk + 3 solid meals a day (No wheat or meat in diet yet as each time I try she gets a very upset tummy)

4:30 (5 prefered) early morning feed
back to sleep
7:00 wake
bottle almost straight away
8:00 - solids
activity
9 / 9:30 nap (she still has a little bit of milk as wind down routine)
Naps for 1.5 hours (I usually wake her)
11;00 bottle
12:00 solids
activity
2:00 /2:30 nap (little bit of milk)
nap 1.5 hours (again I wake her)
4:30 awake bottle
5:30 solids
6:00ish bath
then quiet play
6:45ish wrap her up (one arm out) bottle then dummy and bed (hopefully for the night!)
Dream feed at around 10 (I am trying to wean this out by bringing it forward every 3 nights)
then wait fot the 2am waking!

Hi KristyandElsie

Do you think you could get rid of the 4:30 feed?  I was advised to eliminate all night feeds at this age - and started to give water instead of milk.  After a week, I didn't need to give the water at all.

One tip that I've picked up is to try to not feed you LO before 6:30am because your first am feed is always anticipated by the body, which starts to prepare for that feed one full REM cycle before it (40 minutes). So if you feed your baby feeds at 4.30am she will start to stir and snuffle and doze from 2.50 am).

I'm also trying to eliminate one NW - usually around the same time (2.30am)...but my LO gets cold at this time by wriggling out of her wrap.  So it's a different issue.

I think your routine looks spot on...
