3.5 hour routine
« on: January 19, 2008, 19:41:52 pm »
If this is the example of the 3.5 hour EASY, I have some questions...

E: 7.00 wake up and feed
A: 7.30 or 7.45 (depending on how long feed takes)
S: 8.30 (1.5hr nap)
Y: your choice
E: 10.30
A: 11.00 or 11.15
S: 12.30 (1.5hr nap)
Y: your choice
E: 2.00
A: 2.30 or 2.45
S: 3.30 (1.5hr nap)
Y: your choice
E: 5.30 feed
A: inc. bath time
E: 7.00/7.30 (cluster feed)
S: 7.30/8pm bedtime
Y: the evening is yours
E: 10 or 11pm dreamfeed

If baby naps 8:30-10:00, and doesn't eat until 10:30, I'm assuming that time is "A" time. BUt then, doesn't that mean that baby is up from 10:00 until 12:30? 2.5 hours seems like a long time, considering my LO is going from the 3 hour EASY and is only used to staying up 1.5 hours.

How can I slowly transition into this?

Hi,
Did you find that routine somewhere on this site?  It seems that there might be a typo issue going on.  If you can copy the link to it in this post I will do some investigating.
Thanks
Myia

Myia,

the link is in the FAQ'a, EASY section.

3.5 hour EASY

Just been looking at the 3.5 hour EASY today.  We are looking at beginning the transition too, as Callie often has to be woken at the 1.5 hour mark and isn't always hungry at 3 hours.

I have found the link and am currently working on a fix.  A 3.5 hour routine is tough to write because it is a transition time.  For some the nap is a bit longer and for others the A time is a bit longer.  It is about moving toward the 4 hour routine and it doesn't go the same way for every baby.

Yes, this is the routine from the site (not my own). We started our own 3.5 routine a yesterday -- I just listened to her and went with it. Both days turned out like this...

E: 7.00 wake up and feed
A: 7.15
S: 8.45 (1.5hr nap)
A: 10:15 (get dressed -- she's not hungry here yet!)

E: 10.30 feed (but just a little one)
A: 10:45
S: 12.15 (1.5 hr nap)

E: 1:45 feed
A: 2.00
S: 3:30 (1.25 hr nap)

E: 4:45 feed (she "told" me she was hungry here  ;) )
A: 5:00
S: 6:00 (45 min catnap)

E: 6:45 (she is starving for some reason here!)
A: 7:15 (bath and betime routine)
S: 7:45 bedtime

E: 10 or 11pm dreamfeed

E: 2.30 feed

If you've seen any of my other posts, you'll know that we've been struggling at night with our LO. This routine seems to have solved all of our problems (now that I've put it in writing, I've probably jinxed it!). She is happy to nap and has stopped waking every 15 mins after bedtime! Wooo hooo!

I love BW!
 ;)
