Volume of milk in bottle question
« on: January 21, 2008, 17:20:36 pm »
Forgive me if I am being dense but I want to ask a question about the amount of milk once made in a bottle. At the moment we make 5oz bottles for my lo, so we fill the bottle with 5oz water but once the formula is added and mixed it often goes up to 5.5oz or 6. Now what I don't understand is first of all why its only some of the time this happens??? But also, when Im counting how much my lo has taken do I count from the 5oz I know is in there or the 6oz the powder has taken it to because to the eye there is actually 6oz of liquid in there.

great question, and one I have always wondered about. I tend to go with the number of scoops I have added...not sure if thats right or wrong...would love to hear from the experts.

you count the end result - so after powder is added - say 5.5 or 6oz.

hth :)

Could it depend on how long you shake it for, the amount of froth, that makes it seem more?

I was always told that if you add 5 oz water and 5 scoops, that it is still a 5 oz bottle as there is 5 oz of nutrients in there.

I had the same question and called the formula company. They said that you count the end result. HTH
