Our days are structured in a very unstructured way...
We have lots of free play but, if the kids get bored, I do something active with them in the morning:
- Play "hide & seek" (they run to the kitchen door, which gives me enough time to hide somewhere obvious)
- Play "follow the leader" (pretend to be various animals and they imitate me and they have to go over/under/through whatever I do)
- Tumble around
- Play with balls (I throw, they catch)
- etc
Then lunch & nap (for little one) or quiet time (for the older one who naps maybe once a week).
Afternoons we usually play with playdoh, color, read books and that's all mixed in with lots of free play. Everything I read says that free play is extremely important - just let their imaginations go wild. I really only step in if they whine because they're bored or if they're beating each other up.
