I am here with you Natasha.  i was wondering the same thing.  Zach does not want to take him nap or really seem to need it until about 5:00 in the afternoon.

I am wondering what others will say.

You mean Zach ;-)  After Tyler was born, he was sleeping with me and not going to be until I did, so he was sleeping until about 11:00 in the morning and then napping at about 4:00 or 5:00.

He is now sleeping in his bed and going to sleep (when he does not nap) at 9:00.  Last night he went to sleep at 9:00, woke up at 10:00 this morning, so of course he did not nap.  Tonight he went to sleep at 8:30.  We are slowly getting back to an earlier bedtime and earlier waking.  A little each day.

Zach does have down time though if he does not nap.  Today we watched a movie together while Tyler was asleep.

Riley has pretty much dropped his nap. It has been coming for a long time. It was okay when I was pregnant as I would nap with him most afternoons, and then didn't mind the late bedtimes. Since Kate came along, the whole bedtime at 9-ish was driving me nuts, so I cut the nap and he now sleeps 7-7, or 6:30-7 or whatever. About 12 hours.

Also, for the nap it was also taking him a long time to settle some days. Just not worth it anymore. The last hour before bed is a bit crazy sometimes, but manageable.

If for some reason he wake when I am feeding Kate, he might take a catnap the next morning before lunch. I am just grabbing rest for him while I can as I am on my own for bedtime 5 days out of 7 and his bedtime often coincides with Kate's nursing.

Natasha you know with us I had to stay with her until she was asleep for a few months & when it got ridiculous... like her pocking my face & jumping up and down & clearly not wanting to nap, I stopped offering :-\. A few times I nearly lost it with her & even yelled at her a few times to just lie down & sleep...  :-[ so it was when I got to that stage I just thought it was not worth it.... it wasn't a battle I was prepared to go through with. She was mighty cranky for a few months... no nightwakings (very rare) but we did have early morning wake ups. Bedtime 6 and would wake anywhere from 5.30-6am.

I had a really hard time accepting it cause I thought for sure she would nap until at least 3... if Catherine is happy to be in her room then let her be.. she might go back to napping. If its the time she falls asleep thats worrying you then try cutting the nap down rather than no nap at all. Our nap was about 45mins-1hr long...

Good luck! :-*

I'm hoping Sasha never drops her nap!
She is quite capable of doing long awake times but not quite ready to drop her nap completly unless I'm at home of course ::)

Michelle, I also do about 4 to 5 nights out of the week by myself.  When Tyler was only a few months old, I just had to go with the flow.  This is how we got in the pattern of late bedtime, late wake-up time.
We do the best we can when it is just us, you know.

Zach slept last night from 8:30 to almost 10:00 this morning :-0  Then he got tired around 4:00, but was fighting it.  We went for a ride to get dinner and he slept for an hour.  If he did not sleep that hour, he would be very cranky tonight.

I think I am just going to start quite time with me and him both from 2:00 to 4:00 (that is when Tyler naps). I need some down time also, so will be nice.

DD is lately refusing her nap at least every other day. If we are in the car near nap time she'll always sleep though and if she refuses to nap in her crib she'll often doze off in her stroller (like she did today when I finally got her up and then brought her out to run errands). She really still needs the nap though - so I wish she would go back to more regularly taking it.

It's crazy Stacy. The other thing is that when DD DOES nap, she''s SO hard to wake up!

Marisa is a BEAR to wake when she naps in her crib - I have to turn off her noise machine and make all kinds of noises. Light napper in stroller or car.

Hmmm, in our case might be partially teething component - she still hasn't gotten her two year molars but has lots of teething signs (for a long time now but she's a SLOW teether) and she napped so easily today. Just so happens I'd given her Tylenol about 2 hours before putting her in her crib. Then I realized that a few days ago when she napped no problem she'd had Tylenol too. Hmmm.
