Eeek! WWYD?

Woke at 5:30am, refused nap so do I
a) put to bed at 5pm to try and prevent more OT but risk a 5am wakeup with a decent night's sleep (and hence poss no nap tomorrow)?
b) put to bed at normal 'no-nap' bedtime of 6pm and hope for rubbish night, another EW but a nap tomorrow?

I think b) might be the better option but am just not looking forward to tonight!!

Can you take him for a drive or stroller walk to steal a 20 minute catnap and then try bedtime 6 or 6:30?

That would have been the sensible thing to do wouldn't it.... Have just put DD down for her 'nap' (no-one seems to like day sleep in this house!) so would have to get her back up again... Might well do!

OK, so will accept I have missed an opportunity for today. She seems to have gone to sleep and he is watching a DVD - will see how much of a nightmare he is before deciding on bedtime!

Thanks for the idea though Karen, at least I have a strategy for the next time  ;D
Silly really, sometimes the obvious things pass you by when you're tired and stressed!!

You're quite welcome - I completely understand and often do the same thing (miss what others point out as a solution) - that's why we're all here to give ideas! Hope he does well today/tonight.

thought i'd pop on with my two cents for Rina.  Cole often sleeps at daycare too but never at home unless in car or falls asleep watching a movie.  Either he just gets more tired there, doesn't want to miss out with us, or does it because everyone else is!  They have to lie on their cot for an hour...inevitably sleeps. I had them limit to one hour though when he does...
He also goes down way better w/o nap...

Thanks. The thing I find most odd is she is falling asleep before it is even scheduled nap time, she isnt on her bed cot thingy....but now I think about it, maybe ll the others are sleeping then, she is now the eldest in that room, mant others still on two naps....she moves rooms in a few weeks when she is two.

Moving rooms definitely could help!

Well put DD in for her nap a little after 12:30 (she woke at 6:45) but no go. Got her out of there about an hour later and am leaving at 2 for the grocery store. I'll walk instead of drive and hopefully she'll sleep in there.

The evidence is mounting here that DS only needs 11.5-12 hours of sleep.  Yesterday he napped 1.5 hours; we put him to bed at his normal-ish time, and he took a while to settle; then woke up slightly early getting only 10-10.5 hours of night sleep.

His mood in the evening was better with a nap than w/o, so we'll keep offering the nap and see if he can settle into a pattern.

Bethany, thats where we are at to. usually closer to 10.5hr night and 1.5hr night.

or perhaps a 10hr night followed by a 1.5hr nap followed by a 11hr night

definately not getting consistant 11hr nights with 1.5hr naps.
I mean Noah only slept 13hrs when he was 12months old ----so why I am surprised that 12hrs is all he needs now?

LOL DS was down to about 13 hours at around 9 months  :o, but he held steady there for a looooong time, just rearanged and consolidated when it was happening.  Guess I shouldn't be surprised either that it's dropping.   :)

Yup - 12 hours is totally max here. DD ended up sleeping about 55 minutes in stroller so really hope she can get 10.5-11 hours tonight.

Stacy, how is Kaleb after 1hr 15min naps? the once dreaded nap length is now ok hey? funny..

seems maybe 1.5hrs is getting to be too much on a 11hr night. I know tonight won't be much more then 10.

today woke 6:15---relaxed in crib til 7 (after asleep at 7:15 or so last night)
nap asleep 12:25--slept 1.5hrs or so.
in bed for 7:15 ,and may be asleep now at 7:50pm.

We hit the jackpot!!!

Put Ollie to bed at 5:30pm in the end (seemed like the best compromise!), was asleep by 5:40, woke once at 10pm as I was going to bed and then..... I woke him at 7:10 this morning!!!! That's 13.5 hours sleep  :o

I think maybe I just need to let his body adjust to the no-nap schedule and stop worrying about trying to get him to nap!
