Thank goodness the temp is gone. But we had a really rough nap yesterday - she woke screaming after 45 minutes and took over a half hour to calm down and had a huge mushy poop at the end (not like her at all). Then last night we put her in bed at 8 but she didn't fall asleep until almost 9:15 and then she was basically whining/crying off/on every 15-20 minutes from like 1:45-2:30 when I gave her Motrin and then after about 20 more minutes she slept until 6:40, cried for a minute and then slept until 7:40. Then this morning we found a new molar (finally) on her top right. Gave her Hylands and she fell asleep for her nap around 1:15 and will wake her about 2:45.

As for pre-school we'll be doing 3 mornings a week in Fall - hopefully DD is still napping at least most days!

Stacy, I think PJ and Kaleb are really very similar in their sleep habits.  PJ doesn't readily sleep in the car.  If we are going on a long trip (>1 hour) we try to plan around naps.  Either leave after nap or just prior to nap and he will eventually fall asleep in the car but a car nap is usually 30-45 min. I think 1 time he slept 1h15 min in the car when he was really sick.

After a 1hour 10 min nap ending at 130 yesterday I think PJ fell asleep between 745-8 pm last night.  8 pm is really his sweet time.  If he falls asleep too close to 830 it shortens his night.  So he slept till 645 this morning and then after messing around for a few minutes I thought he fell back to sleep until 720.. but now after falling asleep for his nap in like 5 min at 1:10 I think he probalby was up for the day at 645 and he had a longer awake time than usual.

PJ loved opening his easter eggs to find his treats.  He dumped all the chex mix and the yogurt covered raisins in a big pile and had the most fun with the opening.  Then at about 1030am he laid down next to the pile (on the train table!)  and just shoveled handfuls of it into his mouth. Ha ha!  I told him the little foil covered chicks were choclate but he wasn't interested in eating them, he just kept putting them into the empty eggs and made them 'hatch' which I thought was pretty cute BUT hey? what's with the not eating the chocolate?? Who is this kid? :D

Karen I think PJ is very slowly teething his last molars as well. He keeps having these meltdowns around dinner/bath time and I can't think of any reason other then he is just discovering this is the end of his day.....  I am not used to this!  I forgot what the 'witching hour' was since he was an infant!!!  Glad to hear Marisa is feeling better, but sorry about the rough night.

Hope everyone who is celebrating has a fun Easter.

Well Aiden got high on chocolate this morning and wouldn't eat any breakfast. Had a period mid-morning when he crashed from his sugar high and was pretty tearful. But no nap today. He woke at 6:20 today after waking once or twice during the night. He cried pretty hard at 12:30 but we are playing hardball and it is paying off a little. TBH I think he might have had a nightmare last night but dh went in and fixed his blanket without a word and no touching, despite hard crying, which was a little heartbreaking. But I think he is right in that we can't waver right now. And he slept through till 6:20 which is much better than his previous 2 nights of 5:30! Anyway, I was hoping to have him asleep by 7 after no nap today but it is 7:20 and I think he is still going strong in his room. I am counting on our tough approach to ensure that this won't result in many many wake-ups tonight.

I hope all your lo's get through their molars okay. They were pretty tough for Aiden to get through (I think that was part of the reason for his big slide backwards last fall). He was never good with teething and it was always hard on his tummy from his very first tooth.

yeah, felt a bottom molar just starting to poke through.  It does take forever doesn't it?

PJ slept really well for nap 1h25 min so I don't think he will be asleep befor 830.  I really should start logging this so I can see if there is a pattern and I need to start shortening nap or just go with it and deal with the results. He was really well rested today overall with his post 8pm asleep time and post 630 wake time.  he really needs more than 10 hours at night. 10.5 minimum I can tell now and 11 is best.   Since naps are completely unpredictable we need 11 at night.

Becky I hope Aiden settles soon. good job last night.  It is tough to do this training stuff, but DH did go in and reassure you and Aiden that all is ok with a tuck in and a night night so in the end that is a good thing!!

Good luck tonight.

All of DD's teeth have always taken forever and molars and eye teeth have been terrible for her (the eye teeth at about 21 months). At least one top molar is through now and the tops are usually worse for her. Finally DD slept totally through last night - put her in crib at about 8:30 (after napping till 2:45 when I woke her and then visiting with my parents and having a blast), she played in there and didn't fall asleep until like 9:15 and it's 7:30 now and I've yet to hear a peep. If she's not up by 8 will wake her as we have Gymboree class at 9:30 today. 3 more molars to go...

Hope all had good nights and have good naps today!

I am definitely glad to see the last of those molars - although I did have a dream, a couple of weeks ago, that Aiden had all these molars poking through and that was the cause of his NWs. Pretty crazy huh? Last night he did pretty well after skipping his nap. He slept from about 7:30 till 4 when he started really yelling for me. DH went in and he was completely naked! What a kid!~ We know he was fully clothed when he fell asleep (this time - a couple of nights ago dh went in after he kept asking and asking for his blanket and he was completely naked again with nothing on his bed!). Could he possibly have taken his pyjamas and diaper off in his sleep? Or maybe he woke up, stripped and then started yelling  ;D. He was back to sleep until 6 am.
Anyway, he had a decent nap (1hr15) today but is really crying in his bed now for some reason. Have a feeling he will be late falling asleep (it's 7:25 now).
Thanks for the good luck Meg. The toughest part about training is the retraining when everything goes wonky! But it is much better having him wake up only once a night (not sure if we will get to  zero wake-ups  ::)).

we're not quite at bedtime, but PJ slept 1hand 5 min for nap today.  I got him down pretty early which is what i prefer, so it probably shortened his nap naturally.  I can't usually get him down early.  BUT with a shorter night than he is used to and now a shortish nap he is a little off. Although, I did give him tylenol and actually is better.

We still have to make it through dinner and bedtime, though.

Becky we have had plenty of stripping episodes. I would love to know the answer to weather or not it happens in the sleep.  I remember way back when they were learning to pull themselves up i heard they pulled themselves up in their sleep and then woke up screaming for help.  We did that with PJ for 10 nights straight till he finally fgured out how to lower himself down.  Practice in the sleep is what I was told so maybe....

Good luck tonight!! I am hoping a pre 8pm asleep time.

Are we going to need to have this thread locked and start a new one because of size? Would love to keep it going!

DD doesn't exactly strip usually but sometimes in the morning if she wakes with a wet diaper she'll take that and her pajama pants off. Unfortunately, then she often pees in her crib while hanging out in there but it doesn't happen too often.

So DD napped from 1:25-2:45 yesterday (I woke her) and we spent a good amount of the afternoon at the park. And I did notice her pushing a lot where her top left molar would come in (it's not there yet). By 7 or so she was already getting cranky and hyper so we moved things up and got her in bath and bed by 8 and think she was asleep by 8:15. She was crying around 4:30 but stopped before I went to her room and then slept until like 8:40 - definitely must be getting sick or another tooth so we'll see. Assuming no nap today but will probably put her in her crib around 1:30/1:45 just for some down time.

PJ fell asleep relatively quickly - he was out by 745-8 so I was thrilled but for some reason woke up at 6 and didn't fall back to sleep!  That rarely happens around here.  He does plently of 530-6 am mumbles or yells but very rarely fully wakes up (although I do   ::) )  So I guess we are doing another early day.

I can't believe I am saying this but I actually I think I prefer a 1 hour nap and an 11 hour night out of him.  After over a year of working on 1 nap with only short stints of really good sleep - usually due to teething  - I can't believe I am saying this!!  In fact as much as I hated him having a short night sleep my first thought was "oh good, an early night!!"  I just think he does best falling asleep 730 ish and sleeping till 630 ish and taking a roughly 1 hour nap.  I just wish I could coordinate that with him... ha ha

I am really having to just go with the flow here as we are in an every day is different mode till he shakes this all out.  I hope he does soon b/c April is going to be a VERY busy month for us with visitors and we are going to make a house hunting trip.... so we will be a little crazy here next month.  I hope he figures out what he wants in the next 10 days!!

PLEASE LETS KEEP THIS THREAD GOING!!!  Even though we get off topic sometimes I think we have a good group going where we all know each others needs!! I like this!!

Becky how was the night?  Karen good luck today with nap.  Oh, I found PJ's top right molar starting to poke through so that is #2 of the second years.  He doesn't usually let me touch, so I got lucky.  How is Kaleb doing?  Did I miss anyone?? sorry.  Have a good day everyone!

Well Aiden wasn't asleep until after 8 last night. Was agitated for some reason. Also DH had to go in at one point to put his clothes back on - lol.  I suggested he ignore it because in the past it was a handy way to get someone into his room! We usually have no problem getting at least a diaper on him in his sleep. Dh had to go in briefly once during the night - he was in a weird position half falling off his bed. Then he woke at 6 for the day - and proceeded to strip naked again  ::).

Stacy - I had thought about the gro bag but Aiden has never used one and would probably find a way to get it off!

Meg - I am thinking the 1 hr nap may be best here too. I think part of Aiden's problem last night was that he slept 1 hr 15 which was a little too much for him - although who really knows. I have gone from thinking his nights are better on little to no nap to doing whatever I can to ensure he gets the nap so that he has a good night. I definitely do prefer it when he goes off to sleep quickly at night, though.

I agree about keeping this thread going. Our lo's all seem to be going through similar things.

So how do we lock this one and start a new one?

Stacy - have fun at playgroup! Meg, I know what you mean - some days I actually like/welcome a short nap or no nap because it means an early night. Rolling with the flow here.

Becky - sorry but LOL with the naked thing!

Definitely more teeth on way here - just hope they are quick - hate teething!

Hi guys, I 'll get this moved to a new thread asap and point you in the right direction.

All very well here, thankfully.  Shhhhhh don't jinx us.  ;) I let him sleep 3 hours on Easter due to late nights and parties form Friday-Monday. Other than that we are on a solid, 7:30, 1:15-2:30,(wake him) asleep by 8:30.

Sorry about the teeth all.  I knew I woudl be thankful one day for having a child who got their first tooth at 4 months, 16 by their 1st bday and 2nd yr molars at 23 months! The long haul though... :P so at least now, we don't have that.  Hope all your LO's teeth come out soon, such a pain, literally!  ::)
