low fat/low calorie foods for toddlers?????????
« on: February 20, 2008, 20:37:07 pm »
I seem to remember that you should not give kids low fat/low cal foods as they need the fat and calories for development. Well, my husband and I try to buy low fat/low cal foods for us to eat and of course DS wants what we are having. Do you find yourself giving your kids these types of foods (i guess it is mostly snacks). Am I worried about this too much? He is a great eater, so I know he is getting enough of what he needs (most of the time, of course he goes through stages).
I guess I am just curious what you give to your kids.

We buy two kinds of yogurt - lowfat plain for me and full-fat plain for her.  So far she hasn't been able to tell that I'm eating something different, or if she does want something I made only with mine, I do just say "no that's mommy's, here's yours"  same as I do for my coffee cup.

DD has full fat yoghurt but she eats our food and it's mainly low cal and low fat, but home made so it's not like she's having anything with sweetners or nasties in it.  However I try to use natural sugars in place of sugar at every point for her.
