What do hives look like? Could this be a fish intolerance?

Hello there.
My little boy is 7.5mo, and we just tried fish this week for the first time. He liked it and ate it all up, but the next day he had little red spots all over his face (about 3-4cm apart). They looked a bit like chicken pox, except they weren't on the rest of his body. Are these hives? I have no idea. How do I go about finding out whether this was definitely a reaction to the fish or not?
Anyone had a similar experience?

the hives my 2 girls get are like nettle rash,raised lumps with what looks like fluid in them.they usually go after taking piriton....hth

Thanks. I know what hives are now. I think Alex has had one or two of them before. But these spots are different - more like chicken pox spots.

What's piriton?

antihitamine syrup,sometimes called benadryl i think in the us.
