A minor miracle has occurred in my life- M slept for 1 hour, 13 mins.  Fell asleep at 12:02pm, and woke at 1:15pm.

While I am thrilled with this development, what do I do about the catnap?  She had been taking it about 4 hours after nap, but 5:15pm is too late for a 20 min catnap.  Do I aim for 15 min catnap then?

Help!

 :)

I'd just skip the catnap and bring bedtime forward a little bit (like 30 mins).

So pleased for you  :)

P.S. We have had a breakthrough - still no naps and haven't bothered with the car rides etc. but NW have pretty much stopped and he is on a reasonable 6-6 schedule (which will become 7-7 when the clocks go forward next week). Do you know what settled things down again? Turns out that one set of bedding makes him overheat really easily, he was waking up in a pool of sweat at least once a night, changed the bedding and he's slept through for the last 3 or 4 days despite no naps!

DARN IT!!!

Too bad we're on different sides of the Atlantic Laura- read your post too late!  I have M a catnap at 5pm, but she didn't fall asleep til 5:22pm, so I only let her sleep about 13-14 mins.  And though I put her to bed at 7pm, she didn't fall asleep til almost 8pm.  I think I'm in for NWs and an EW.

This blows!

Great news about Ollie- you could have never predicted the sheets being an issue!

Woohoo, go Madeline, what a fabulous nap! Sorry I wasn't around either, I would have suggested the same as Laura, any wake up after 1pm and I would just put Leorah to bed after 4½ hours A time. Don't worry with that catnap breaking up the A time M probably didn't get OT espeacially if she was in bed for an hour before sleep. See it is working, great I really hope the corner is turned, as long as you have good wake ups and can start the nap as near to 12 as pos and have her sleep until after 1pm you should be able to do one nap, if not then give the catnap.

Laura I am glad you worked out what was up with Ollie, poor thing, I hate being hot at night and I am glad you can get some more sleep too  ;)

We have been so busy the last few days and poor L has had the worst cold. She has had 2 x 2 nap days this week! Yesterday she fell asleep in the car for ½ an hour 2 hours after she woke from a 13 hour night and then napped again at lunch but only for 1hr5 mins and woke up miserable and teething again  :P Always something!!

I expected a bad night, but am happy to report she fell asleep about 7:50pm (I think), and woke at 5:24am with a few cries and then settled herself, waking for the day at 6:49am.

The nap was at 11:50am, prior to yesterday, which was at 12pm after pre-nursery.  Should I keep it at 12pm, or at 11:50am?

Sorry L has another cold... and it IS always something.  You finish one stage (that you think will never end) and move into another stage!

That's a great nap Leslie!  I think you should just watch her - if she's falling apart go for the 11:50 and if she can handle the 12 then go for that.  So glad last night turned out okay as well.

I've got the flu so DH has been handling pretty much everything but nursing (some days I wish he could do that and give me a break!).  It's ridiculous how much more consistent LC is for him than for me, I mean to the minute.  We're on our own again today (and its my birthday - I don't dare admit how old  ::) ), so hopefully we'll have a good day as I am still feeling off.

I'm hoping for another hour + nap for you today Leslie!

Beth- sorry you're not feeling well.  Happy Birthday!  I'll be 35 this year if that makes you feel any better.  30 wasn't bad, but 35 seems like turning the older corner.

That's a pretty good night, 11 hours isn't bad at all and waking close 7 is really good. I hope she can make it to 12 for you and do over an hour! GL!

Way to go Madeline.  Definitly agree with everyone else if you get over 1hr naps then just bring bedtime early and no catnap, otherwise give catnap and normal bedtime.  Looks like your turning a corner again tho' I'm positive your on te right track this time round  ;D ;D ;D

Katt - Sorry Leorah is poorly again, but blimey that girl can sleep these days can't she  :D  Lily seems to be getting her 2yr molars, at least I can now see the tooth under the gum, where as before it was just a tooth shaped bump.  God knows where the canines are getting too  ???

Happy Birthday Beth  :)

Laura - I have found quite often Lily's nws are due to temperature, either needs an extra layer adding or removing.  Always takes a few days to figure it out tho  ::)

Hope everyone is well I have been poorly, well still am really.  Think its IBS, had it years ago, but doctor diagnosed excess acid  ::) I know its not acid, its nothing like it, acid doesn't give you lower back pain.  The only way I can describe it is just like early stages of labour, no fun at all.  Seems to be getting better, slowly, whatever it is.

Oh gosh, Nic- IBS is not fun.  Both my mom and sister have bouts of it frequently.  Hope you're feeling better soon.

M slept exactly 1 hour, woke up crying... so do I give a catnap or not?  She woke at 1pm, so I'm leaning towards just putting her to bed at 6:30pm.

Anybody have any thoughts?  And if so, could you let me know in the next 2 hours?

 ;D

If you'd be offering catnap at 5pm then that really is too late to expect a sensible bedtime - go for the early bedtime and enjoy the extra couple of hours to put your feet up!

Well she only made it til about 6:15pm, and fell asleep drinking her bottle.  I hope she's not up too early tomorrow.
