I think you've got reliability mate, you're asking for perfection! You had some *awful* problems before but now you've got a little girl that takes reasonable length naps and sleeps solidly through the night - that's AWESOME! Taking half an hour to fall asleep at night is not a major problem!

(C'mon Katt / Nik, apply the TLC!!)

No tlc here, I totally agree with you Laura  ;D

I quite often type something then re-word it to be slightly gentler, but thats just me, don't like to offend, even when I know I wont  ;)

In answer to your question Leslie, yes some mums do have perfect sleeping babies.  I have friends who's LO is 5.5m, he has no routine at all, is fed to sleep and so far he has always co slept but hubby decided enough was enough and they went out and bought a cot, dropped the rail and have it pushed right up to the bed.  I fully expected the LO to complain merry hell all night long about suddenly effectively sleeping on his own, but NO, he slept just fine  >:( ;)  But seriously its not the norm at all, just some people get extremely lucky  ::) most of us don't.

OK so that was a teeny tiny bit of tlc  ;)

Tough crowd here today!  ;D  But yes, Laura, I am a perfectionist.

Where can I get one of those kids that love sleeping?

Tonight I put M down at 5:55pm, and she complained a little, but it's now 6:10pm and I haven't heard a peep.  PERFECTION!

I'm sure even those that have 'perfect' children are just VERY good at forgetting the bad days / nights  :)

At some point you'll have to admit that you've cracked it, I am adamant that we shouldn't have to make it onto thread 3 with this! (though we will have to keep in touch - maybe we'll have to have our own little e-mail support group ;D )

I've been waiting all day to post and let you all know M slept from about 6pm til 6:45am, AND took a nap at 12pm that last til 1:16pm!  YAHOO!!!!

I was thinking the same thing Laura- wondering if I'm headed onto Thread 3!

Agreed- let's keep in touch.  I need all the support I can get (along with the smacks of reality thrown in).

YAY the boards are back- I was seriously going thru withdrawal.

Here's where we're at:

Sat. bed at 6pm, crying at 5:22am and didn't get B2S til 6:19am, then woke at 7:04am.

Sun. nap from 11:57am-1:06pm, woke crying.  Bed at 5:42pm (passed out), woke at 6:22pm crying (1 PD, right B2S) and 7:51pm crying (couldn't find paci).

Mon. few cries at 5:29am, slept til 6:28am.  Thought she's OT, so I tried for 2 naps, 1 at 11:30am (woke 40 mins later coughing, but 1 PD and some head rubbing and B2S til 12:40pm).  Then refused the catnap, so bed at 5:30pm.

I was expecting her up early today, but she woke at 6:27am.  So I guess it's now 1 nap at 12pm, no earlier.  Just need to push bedtime back w/o her getting OT.

How's everybody else doing?

glad things are finally getting there.  Just remeber as much as you want perfection your highly unlikely to actually achieve it, or at least not for long before things start changing up again.

Were doing good, I think Lily finally is starting to cut 1 corner of 1 of her 2yr molars  ;D ;D ;D ;D

I will be sad when this thread finally ends, weve all gone through quite a lot while its been running, its like our own mini BW family.

Hope everyone else is doing OK  :)

Hello, thank goodness the boards are up and running again  ;D

Wow, M is doing so well! I don't sugar coat it but try and put positive energy into the situation  ;) It honestly works for me when I stop stressing and just decide Leorah will take a good nap, it nearly always happens and was a turning point for me, I guess my stress hormones were effecting her too! I do agree with Laura too though an hour plus nap and a solid night equal happy days in my book  ;)

Nicola, we also finally have a tooth just minutely showing! It's a completely different one to the swollen white tipped tooth I have been waiting for but it is her first canine, saying that it may well disapear back into the gum tomorrow as this always seems to happen now n´before they pop out for good  :P

Yes we definitely need to keep in touch my lovely cyber buddies! I don't know any BW IRL  :)

Hi girls,

This board issue is annoying- it goes down when I most need advice!

M slept 1 hour 15 mins yesterday (YAY), and went to bed at 6:10pm.  But she was up at 12:48am crying for a few mins, and again at 1:50am, and 2:12am.  At 2:30am I gave her some Tylenol (she had 15 mos shots yesterday) and went right B2S til 6:12am.

I assume I stick to the 12pm nap time despite early wake up?

Leslie

Its kinda a judgement call that one, do you think her night was disturbed enough to leave her extra tired today? if so then I would do an early nap & catnap.  That said I may have missed something earlier, had the catnaps stopped working or disrupting her bedtime? if so stick with 12 for nap, if she will still do a catnap I would offer it today.

She refused the catnap the other day, so I just put her down about 10 mins early, and she only slept one hour  :(

Yes, that's better than the 30 mins.  But I suppose I need to wait a few weeks before this nap lengthens?

Another early to bed night.

Well bed at 5:40pm, and 2 hours later no noise, so that's great!  Of course now I'm worried she's getting too much of her sleep at night.

I'll never be happy!

Leslie I never worry about Leorah getting her good sleep at night, that is when they do all their growing and processing of things they have learned, very important IMO. I don't know if it is related but L was born 3 weeks early and spent her first year small but once on one nap where for months she was doing 1hr15 mins and a 13˝-14 hour night she grew and grew and is now at least average in Denmark and maybe even on the tall side in the UK, my friend's LO on the other hand that has no routine and wakes in the night consistantly is very small fo her age but and hasn't grown much for the last few months. As I said it may not be connected but I have a had a few comments on L's growth and how it must be due to the long nights. Her nap has generally lenghthened though and she now averages a 13 hour night, she does sleep more than average but she moves more than average too ( :P) and the doc says they take what they need as long as they get the opportunity. Actually my doc has 3 kids and they are all cranky in the evenings, perhaps she should start BW!! As long as she is not waking in the night then all is good  ;)

We did have 1 brief NW last night at 4:23am, but I think it's teething related as I gave her some more meds and she slept til 6:29am.

Katt- M's already a big girl... 75% for weight, and 50% for height.

How's everybody else doing?

OK so we had a 65 min nap yesterday ending at 1:11pm, and in bed asleep at 5:50pm.  But up for the day at 6:10am.  Here's where I struggle- do I put her in at 11:50am instead of 12pm (which is what I've been doing when she wakes before 6:20am) or do I stick with 12pm?  I've only been getting an hour when I put her in bed at 11:50am.  My concern is she'll sleep less at 12pm, being up almost 6 hours.

Thoughts?
