Starches?
« on: February 29, 2008, 14:09:59 pm »
Hi girls!
Just wondering....do I need to feel this compulsion to serve my dd (14 mo) a starch with her dinner?  She has alot of other starches thru the day (waffle/toast at b'fast....cereal, crakers at snack).
When dinner time rolls around, I usually give her meat (chicken, turkey, she even ate a pork-chop last nite!) with mixed veggies....she loves this. But for some reason I feel complelled to always make her noodles or pasta or potato to go with it....but then I get feeling like she eats too many starches. On the nites that I haven't given her a starch with her dinner, she is fine and eats happily like always....but I still feel like I need to give her 3 items with her dinner...(my mom always did)....but I'm also a carb junkie....!!!!!
Is it ok to just do meat and veggies with supper?

I always am pushing starches b/c my lo rarely eats them and she does need SOME.  Oatmeal (sometimes), graham crackers, and pasta are about the only ones I can count on.  Brown rice sometimes.  Most bread, potatoes, and other starches just wind up on the floor.
