And don't think that you have to be 'local' either - they do travel some distance to collect the milk from you....think they even said that they have someone from Sheffield, hardly local to Chester is it?  (Hannah?  you're in Sheffield....no excuses now  ;) ;) ;) :-*) S

Thats really interesting Awel, our closest is Huddersfield but they don't collect you have to pack a cool-bag and drop it in so its good to know that other places will collect even if they are further afield. When I first found out about it I was still breastfeeding Wilf but beyond the 6 month point so unable to donate, its good to be reminded of it now.

Good for you Awel for doing it and for raising it as an issue on here :-*

Well, Huddersfields is hardly local to you either is it, bit far to deliver your milk isn't it?  isn't it odd that some places collect...tbh, not sure I'd be so keen to do it if they expected me to take it there, would be a lot of extra 'hassle' that you can do without with a young baby.

Good point you made too Hannah about the 6 month mark.  Just to explain, basically you have to start donating before your baby is 6 months old and if you do, they will continue to take your milk till 12 months.  After that age, it's too lacking in components for little prem babies (but obviously still great for your own 12 month old)  However, you can't start donating if your baby is more than 6 months old....not sure why that is - didn't ask, wish I had now though.
