Not wanting as much milk?
« on: March 03, 2008, 23:26:03 pm »
Hi!  Formula feeding with my dd has been going swimmingly since we started in late December.  But the past two days or so she hasn't wanted very much and she hasn't been eating as fast as normal either.  She usually will eat 8-12 oz at every feeding (4 per day) but the past two days she's only wanted 4-6oz.  Is this normal?  Will she go back to wanting more?  She's very active and very very happy, so I don't think she's sick. She has had solids and I try to give them to her consistently, but she doesn't want them and barely eats them.  She has no teeth yet. Thanks for your help!
Laurie

Probably either teething or coming down with something.  Or maybe she just isn't growing as fast at this moment.  I'd say just watch and wait, make sure she's having enough wet diapers and if she doesn't start waking at night she's probably just fine.

I agree with pp.  As long as she is content, just ride it out.  DS goes thought times when he will eat less and then goes back to his old ways a few days later.  We just keep an eye on his wet diapers to make sure he is staying hydrated.

Thanks for the advice.  I hope it's just a passing thing for her...this morning she guzzled down 9 oz and then took a 4oz topper about an hour later in the nursery while I was at MOPS (I don't usually give her toppers).  So...we'll see how she does the rest of the day.
