Solids & Milk does this EASY sound ok?
« on: March 08, 2008, 15:13:11 pm »
HI

Just does anyone think this is wrong?

7am - milk
8.30am - cereal
9-11am - nap
11am - milk
12-12.30 - lunch
1-3 - sleep
3 - milk
4.30 - dinner
5-6 - sleep (she needs this sleep or else will fall asleep and wont sleep at nite!)
7 - milk
7.30 - bed

She is 6 months. Does not take much food but just getting her used to it at the moment.

Looks good to me.  How much milk is in each bottle?  They recommend at least 24 oz at this age.

Thanks. She usually has 6oz a bottle, although past few days only 5oz as she has been a bit off (no solids either). So she is having 24oz a day then when she is 'normal' day. So that's good to hear.

She doesnt really eat much, that's why I posted it as she is not eating much but guess we have to start somewhere, I think I was expecting her to just start eating bowls full of stuff hehe, my first was a big baby and she is small is so is just adjusting to it all! He was a keen eater, she is not too fussed, so think Ill just offer her solids but concentrate on her milk intake.

Thanks again for your reply, babies send your brain to mush! Lol

xx

Meghan is like this, just not a big eater.
Graham, my first, was much bigger and ate a ton.  Ebby, my second, ate even less than Meghan.  They're all just different.  I try to make sure I don't force her because I want her to learn to stop eating when she's full.  As they've gotten bigger, I can see why Graham has a bigger appetite, he never stops moving!  But Ebby is much more sedentary.
I think you're plan is good- give her the milk and let the solids be non-stressful, whatever she'd like to eat.

Hi

well ive decided to lay off the solids a bit more now. I was attempting 3 meals but finding the only one she will even attempt is tea time. So Ive not been forcing her, I try her but if she doesnt want it I leave her, she has an ice cube sized tea, but as you've said they're all different and she is doing fine on it so think ill leave it this way until I get a sign she is ready for more.

That's the way to do it, just let her take the lead.  As long as she's healthy, happy, growing, has wet diapers, etc, there isn't any cause for concern with starting solids.
