Deborah, everything will be fine, don't fret over this. Soon you'll have a new baby whose sleep you will worry over and toddler sleep will not seem like an issue. Riley was starting to drop his nap while I was pg with Kate, but I hung onto it as the nap in the day suited me fine as I rested then too, and the late nights were annoying, but manageable.
Riley was 2.5 when she was born, and they both got sick with RS just after she came home. Sleep went crazy, then I decidied to drop his nap. We got 12 hour nights. He did wake a few times when I was doing night feeds (I still cosleep with Riley and Kate is in our room too, an added element to deal with). But over the space of a few weeks, everything settled down and now he will do 12-13 hours consistently. It will be fine, it really will. I am so over naps, can't wait til Kate is done with hers, long way to go for that lol.

Ya, Michelle is right.  I'm finding Hayden's naps are now really interfering with our days! ;D  Can't wait until she's down to 1 but don't want to wish a minute away!  Now, Deb, go have that baby, I mean it.  You are now overdue. :-*

Hey all - sorry been MIA! DD was really sick last week (another one of her mystery viruses with super high fever) and really busy with house stuff too.

Now that DD is feeling better, sleep has to get back in order. She only slept 9.5 hours last night and was up at 6:10 (ugh) - probably not tired enough and needs to burn off energy (but rainy out today). Will limit her nap to 1.5 hours today (should probably cut more but want to do a short treadmill run and shower during it). Ideally her nap is an hour (or less) and night 11 hours or more but that rarely happens!!!

thanks everyone for your words of support...gosh I was so tired from late to bed Sunday night and EW Monday that I was more frustrated then normal. fell asleep on the couch at 9--not much later then Noah who I think was finally asleep at 8:45.

he loves to do flips in his bed---literally--he does somersaults and ends up in a head type stand against the wall (bed pushed in to the corner) , crazy, thats his favorite activity-does it on the couch too. I am partially worried about him hurting himself when he should be falling asleep.

he woke about 7 today, so I am going to try a 1hr nap ----am I better pushing that nap to 1:30-2:30? and then asleep for 8:30? or 1-2pm? just not sure how much A time he can handle after a 1hr nap.

I don't "think" this baby is coming anytime soon--really I feel that he is going to stay in there FOREVER! I've been off work for over a month and as Stacy knows--all the clothes have been hanging in the closet for a few months. I keep on doing things thinkiing the baby will come--I mean every week when I wash the sheets--I think oh maybe this will be the last time I will wash the sheets before the baby comes---and then a week later I have to do it again..  ::)

Thinking of you Deb... I know it's hard not to wish this time away, but enjoy your peace and quiet, life will be different all over again soon!

Maren slept 12.5 hours last night, with no nap, seems pretty happy so far, we'll try for same today! :)

Or not... she's been asleep for 2 hours... time to go open her door, except I'm enjoying my peace and quiet. ;)

Looks like I need to join you guys or some much needed support.

Zach will be three in August.  He has ALWAYS been a great napper, always needed a nap, slept 3 hours for his nap and still 11 hours at night.

I would say for the past 7 months (well heck since Tyler was born), he has tried to drop that nap, but would end up falling asleep at like 4:00 in the afternoon and then going to bed super late.

All that has changed.  He is in bed now by 8:30 at the latest and wakes about 8:00/9:00 in the morning

Here is the problem.  He still needs that nap most days.  He gets so whiny (i mean so whiny) and just walks around in circles and whines "mommy, mommy".  I try to lay down with him, but he will not sleep.

So by the end of the day, he refuses bath, everything because he is so tired.

Looks like I am not a lone though with not taking a nap.

Any advice on what I should do with the constant whinning???

LOL.. Oh trust me, I have thought about it.

I just keep telling myself that one day, he will have nothing to do with mommy and I will miss his whining.

Gosh, when will that day come..  ha...

Well ladies I haven't been around much as we seem to have found a formula that is working for us.
For the last 2 weeks it has pretty much been like this Tues, Thurs & Sat ds2 doesn't nap (or has 10-15mins in car)... Sun, Mon & Wed he does for up to 1.5 or even 2 hours and  Friday ds1, ds2 & I all nap (ds1 & I have fallen asleep watching a movie together LOL) & that works perfectly with dh too as it means both boys tend to get an early night on opposite nights & dh gets 1-1 with the other.

Kate that sounds FANTASTIC!!!

Wendy - wish I could help you on the whining... How goes it with Zach and his DGE and/or intolerances?

Ugh - DD up at 6:10 here (after not falling asleep until 8:40 even though she seemed REALLY tired yesterday afternoon). Tried to cut her nap to 1.25 yesterday but she was dead to the world until almost 1.5 hours anyway. And today I really need to let her have that 1.5 hours (she'd want more) as I have to bring her on a work outing this afternoon and need her in a halfway decent mood. Oh the fun.
