Is the 2pm bottle stopping my 11 month old eating solids?
« on: March 25, 2008, 20:44:03 pm »
My DD is on 3 bottles a day and takes 7 oz each bottle. Her solid intake has finally got to a level where I am thinking I can drop her 2pm bottle before her afternoon nap but if she is happily taking it all so my question is am I doing the right thing by dropping it?? If I should drop it should it be gradual or cold turkey!

7.00am - wakes
7.30am - bottle (7 oz)
8.30am - toast (eats hardly any of it though!)
9.30am - morning nap (1.5hrs)
11.30am - lunch (i.e. pasta with veg sauce, yoghurt, fruit)
2.00pm - bottle (7 oz) then nap (1.5hrs)
3.30pm - wakes, rice cake
5.00pm - dinner (meatball and rice)
6.30pm - bottle then bed (7oz)

Thanks for your help!

Hi there, I would say to drop it and replace it with a snack, like a yoghurt, so there is some extra calcium, 16-18oz of milk is ok at this age, esp if your lo has yoghurts etc, so if you did 2 x 9oz bottles, ie, 1 morn, 1 eve, then give calcium rich foods with one meal, that would be ok, even 2 x 8oz bottles. hth a little xxx

I agree with pp.  At eleven months all three of mine had a bottle in the am - one at lunch - one at supper and then cereal, bottle and bed... and at his age you could definitely drop the lunch or supper bottle and give him a sippy cup so you can start working towards dropping the bottle altogether.
